GTA 6 is right around the corner and is arguably the decade’s most highly anticipated video game. The gaming community spent years waiting for this project and the game developers are adamant about releasing the game in the best shape possible; however, that did not stop them from working on other remakes.

It is a new age for the game industry and virtual reality is slowly building momentum. The developers thought it would be a great idea to remake one of the classic and universally praised GTA games on this ambitious platform; unfortunately, not everything is going according to plan.

GTA 6 Is Immune From Delays but the Same Cannot Be Said for the VR Project

The game industry was forever revolutionized by the significant contributions of Rockstar Games through Grand Theft Auto, Bully, Red Dead Redemption, and other iconic gaming franchises. Each project is a major improvement from previous games and fans have estimated the potential budget for GTA 6; it is not chump change, especially for a modern triple-A open-world game.

Game development is a tedious task that can take a toll on the game developers. Rockstar Games partnered with Meta to work on a VR remake of GTA: San Andreas and recent reports claim that the project is on hold indefinitely allowing both parties to shift their focus on other more pressing matters and it does not bode well for those looking forward to the game.

The reason behind the sudden change to hold remains unknown and the gaming community was rocked to see it happen out of nowhere. Perhaps both parties are struggling to run the game with a smooth and stable performance and thought it best to cut their losses and move on, or Rockstar Games is prioritizing adding new game mechanics and features for the next major game.

Game development and delays are an inseparable package that has been there from the start but being on hold indefinitely is a different story entirely. Hopefully, Meta and Rockstar Games could work something out to avoid losing the hype and momentum the VR project remake has built for the past few years and to give the gaming community the experience they deserve.

The gaming community often forgets that this early GTA game was ahead of its time and featured cutting-edge technology and game mechanics that react in real time. Some fans even suggest that the next GTA game could take notes from this classic and beloved gem to augment the next-generation experience.

Perhaps there is a silver lining to this unfortunate event, the developers could have evaluated their options carefully and thought it would be best to leave the project as it is and then come back once the schedule is cleared and everything is sorted and mellowed out. Rockstar Games and Meta would rather delay a project than release it half-baked.

Quality gaming experiences are hard to come by nowadays. Delays can be the best thing that could happen to a game from the perspective of game development.

Hopefully, this VR project will still see the light of day sooner rather than later. The developers have yet to drop the ball and have no plans now.
