Jujutsu Kaisen has emerged as one of the best new-gen anime and manga series in recent years. The story written by Gege Akutami has often been hailed as the best new-gen anime and has a fanbase of millions of people across the globe who love the series and relate to the characters.
Taking inspiration from other series is customary in the manga field. Gege Akutami has often been open about his inspiration being Hunter x Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho. Still, one of the other series from which he took significant inspiration was Fate/Zero.
Gege Akutami took inspiration from Fate/Zero for Jujutsu Kaisen
Gege Akutami’s magnum opus began in 2018 and, from the get-go, became a fan favorite, with the anime adaptation only increasing the number of fans.
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most complicated series and involves a lot of complex cursing techniques, death painting, and various other concepts. One reason for this is Gege Akutami’s many sources of inspiration.
He has taken inspiration from Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, and Yu Yu Hakusho; one surprising entry is none other than Fate/Zero.
Although this has been a very underrated topic and is often not highlighted, Gege has taken inspiration for Ryomen Sukuna from none other than Gilgamesh.
They share similar personalities and have a human they prefer, Megumi in Sukuna’s case and Kirei for Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh and Enkidu’s friendship parallels the Geto and Gojo relationship in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Marble is a concept similar to Jujutsu Kaisen domain expansion, and viewers can quickly draw similarities between them, which might be the source of inspiration for the broken technique from Jujutsu Kaisen.
What’s next for Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen is on a generation run, with the manga and anime entering crucial phases for the story.
In the anime, the breaking point for Itadori arrives after he witnesses the deaths of Nobara and Nanami at the hands of Mahito, a curse he hates the most.
With Gojo now sealed, the balance of the world has collapsed, and the testament to this can be the Shibuya massacre that Sukuna caused to prove his superiority.
On the other hand, in the manga, the series has taken a turn from which it might never come back, with the death of the strongest jujutsu sorcerer, Gojo Satoru.
Sukuna has also unveiled his final form and is currently engaged in a duel with Itadori, who is out for blood after Sukuna took away all the people he loved.
The latest chapter saw the demise of Kenjaku at the hands of Yuta, who ambushed him while he was having the time of his life with Takaba competing with him in a comedy contest.
