Consumers of Devil Fruits are shown to have incredible yet distinctive powers in One Piece. Throughout the series, Eiichiro Oda has introduced several types and kinds of Devil Fruits. Users such as Donquixote Doflamingo and Foxy had to train themselves to perfect their seemingly weak abilities while characters such as Luffy and Fujitora had the best abilities since the beginning.
Devil Fruits are rare and mystical fruits that grant the eater all sorts of powers in exchange for their ability to swim. Prolonged usage could also have adverse effects on one’s body as witnessed after the Gear 5 rampage. Monkey D. Luffy’s Monkey God form allows him to manipulate reality, although making him age faster in the process.
A similar reality-distorting power is possessed by Jewelry Bonney in One Piece. However, unlike Luffy’s Gomu Gomu No Mi Fruit, her Toshi Toshi no Mi Fruit (Year-Year Fruit) doesn’t have a major weakness. Moreover, Bonney’s abilities cannot be resisted like Fujitora’s gravitational powers from the Zushi Zushi no Mi Fruit.
Jewelry Bonney May Have The Strongest Devil Fruit In One Piece
Jewelry Bonney is the daughter of Ginny and the adopted child of Bartholomew Kuma. She was born with a disease called Sapphire Scales that gave protruding crystal-like structures all over her body. As revealed during the Egghead arc, Kuma decided to contact Dr. Vegapunk to find a cure for his illness but had to become a part of the doctor’s ‘Pacifista’ project, thus becoming a cyborg.
During her childhood, Bonney ate the Toshi Toshi no Mi Fruit and gained the powers of age manipulation. The true extent of her powers has been gradually revealed in the One Piece manga. It is known that the 12-year-old Bonney can change her appearance to resemble a girl in her teens or an old woman and can transfer her gaining powers via conductors such as rods and staffs.
The Year-Year Fruit’s true Age Distortion powers were seen in Chapter 507 when Bonney used her ability to cripple opponents by rapidly aging them into adults or decreasing their age to making them toddlers. She can also induce a state in which the opponent is turned into a skeleton after taking away their lifespan/age although the changes are temporary.
Jewelry Bonney’s only weakness is that the age changes that she creates are temporary. She cannot affect the ages of her opponents permanently. This is a small compensation, compared to others with more major disadvantages, and Bonney doesn’t even need much time to defeat her target after making him a white-haired senior or a baby.
Jewelry Bonney’s Best Ability, Future Distortion, Was Seen In One Piece Chapter 1101
Perhaps, the most overpowered ability of Jewelry Bonney’s Toshi Toshi no Mi Fruit is the Future Distortion. In One Piece Chapter 1072, manga readers get a glimpse of her power when she creates an alternate timeline in which she is the biological daughter of Kuma. This made her obtain the resolute Buccanneer blood temporarily.
One Piece Chapter 1101 has left fans bewildered by Bonney’s capabilities. During a flashback scene that depicted her time with Vegapunk, she used her Distortion power to take a gigantic form and punch Alpha unconscious. Bonney’s manifested form was inspired by Kuma’s stories of the Sun God Nika.
Jewelry Bonney’s bloated arm was similar to Luffy’s Gear 3 technique. Since Luffy is considered to be the reincarnation of Nika and Bonney can create alternate timelines, does it mean that the girl can consider herself to be any God and possess their respective powers? This could have massive implications for the fight between the Straw Hats Crew and the Five Elders.
The fact that Bonney’s Devil Fruit hasn’t been Awakened but already allows her such magnificent powers is truly astounding.
