Since its launch in September this year, Mortal Kombat 1 has been making quite the moves with a colorful roster of deadly characters, and the bar has just been set a little too high now. With Omni-Man’s not-so-heroic entry into the game, players have been testing out all kinds of movesets.
Even with the game’s current meta, Omni-Man seems to be way more powerful than other characters. Until the developers ‘fix’ this and make the infamous anti-hero a bit more balanced, players can expect to make some brutal and fatal plays with one of the most powerful characters to enter the arena.
Omni-Man’s Moveset in the Game Is Fast, Brutal, and Hilariously Busted
By default, Omni-Man is a ridiculously fast character. With the press of a few buttons, you can swiftly sweep behind enemies, counter their attacks, and even dodge attacks. There’s a skill ceiling here to consider, but once you get the hang of it, he’s a deadly character to go against. Moreover, if you time it right, you can spam his dash combos multiple times.
Not mentioned anywhere on the move list is the fact that Omni-Man can airdash multiple times in the air at the cost of a bar after the first one meaning yes, 4 airdashes in one combo. #PS5Share, #MortalKombat1 pic.twitter.com/nBvMsMOgps

Competitive players like Murko showcased how the game practically breaks if Omni-Man starts ‘going back’ while an opponent is still standing still.

It’s funny how the character’s animations are causing massive changes in gameplay, which makes it tricky to even consider the character as a playable option in the competitive scene.
Not to spoil the fun for anyone but do have a look at how Omni-Man taunts his opponents before every match. That alone should have made it to his list of deadly attacks in the game. Voiced by no other than JK Simmons, NetherRealm did an excellent job of representing a fan-favorite anti-hero in a video game without taking any of his charm away.
Omni-Man’s Powerful Presence in the Game Is Reminiscent of His Comic Book and TV Versions
There may be slight spoilers for Invincible going forward. At first glance, a 3D and realistic version of Omni-Man was a matter of skepticism, especially from fans of Invincible. However, from what we’ve seen so far, the character’s presence in Mortal Kombat 1 fits flawlessly and matches his deadly description from original source.
If you’re not familiar with Omni-Man’s (Nolan) origins, he belongs to a planet called Viltrum, which belongs to a race of powerful aliens called Viltrumites. This mighty group of aliens specializes in being supremacists and planet conquerors. When Nowl-Ahn was a bit older, superior Viltrumites decided to assign him to Earth in order to weaken the planet. He began his life on Earth as ‘just another human’, later joining forces with the Guardians of the Globe in order to keep up his superhero persona.
In Mortal Kombat 1, Omni-Man discloses a lot about his origins, and much of his intentions (and upbringing) show up in his banters. However, the most impressive recollection of his true abilities is in his move sets – how he dodges attacks, moves swiftly, delivers fatalities, and more. All of this amounts to the Viltramite in him, which in turn serves as a devastating challenge to his opponents.
Omni-Man’s relationship with his son, Mark, is something that doesn’t escape the game’s narrative every now and then. You can notice Omni-Man mention this quite a few times in intros and cutscenes. He also speaks about Earth’s timeline and ‘his version’ of it.
Omni-Man is the first of many powerful characters as part of Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack DLC. Next, we’ll see other heroes and anti-heroes like Peacemaker and Homelander come to the roster. We can only imagine how funny yet calamitous their interactions with each other would be.
