Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was an iconic movie that managed to show both sides of the same war but with different perspectives. With Margot Robbie in the lead role and the year about to come to an end, an actress from the 2023 film has not been nominated.
America Ferrera, the actress known for portraying the role of Gloria (the depressed woman in Real World), had quite a character to portray. Fans trying to support the actress in getting a nomination found themselves at war with a faction that stated that the actress simply wasn’t good enough!

Despite the fame and stardom received from Barbie, people took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that the actress had yet not been nominated for a Golden Globe. Although several fans agreed with the post, other people replied that the actress wasn’t that good or that she wasn’t worthy enough to get nominated for a Golden Globe!
Despite the love for Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” not nominating America Ferrera for a #GoldenGlobe for her performance as Gloria seems to fundamentally miss a big point of the film. More snubs from today’s nominations announcement here: https://t.co/XA38Vl15id pic.twitter.com/iIIwhNYdbF

She was great. Her monologue was great. She wasn’t best performance great. It’s not that complicated.

I don’t actually know why she was in the movie except to repeat all of the movies themes and messages to you at face value

So the big, fundamental point of the film is who gets awards?

Her performance was okay but there were plenty of more deserving nominees

Her cringe monologue is the lowest point of the film.

In a recent interview with Variety’s Actors on Actors, Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy talked about the time of Barbenheimer. In the cultural phenomenon where two movies were face-to-face, the marketing was essentially done by the fans and Robbie and Murphy loved it.
“People are so clever. People kept asking me, “So is each marketing department talking to each other?” And I was like, “No, this is the world doing this! This is not a part of the marketing campaign.”
Cillian Murphy interjected,
“And I think it happened because both movies were good. In fact, that summer, there was a huge diversity of stuff in the cinema, and I think it just connected in a way that you or I or the studios or anybody could never have predicted.”
With Barbie receiving a rating of 7/10 on IMDB and 88% on Rotten Tomatoes while Oppenheimer sits atop a rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, the Golden Globes will be here soon. The saga of Barbenheimer will indeed continue as to which movie gets more awards.
