John Cena has a stellar career to celebrate, the 16-time world champion recently revealed that his time at WWE is nearing the end as he believes 50 would be the fine line to stay out of the squared circle. The actor will turn 47 on 23 April, which means he still has three years to make one spectacular comeback to end the greatest chapter of his career. Appearing on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, Cena addressed his WWE retirement.

“When I feel I can no longer perform at the capacity of the product, it is time to step away. That’s not tough, the toughest thing is that I love it so much. So, when that time is gone, that means that it’s done. I’m actively trying to craft that path right now, s,o uh, I, I’ve put a line in the sand of myself for 50 and I honestly think it’s going to be before that uh, there’s your breaking news.”

However, the Peacemaker actor revealed that he will always be a part of WWE.

“It is going to be time soon for me to go, and I’m embracing that and enjoying it allows me to be present. I, uh, I can say this with the utmost certainty I will always, always be part of the WWE family, but the time to compete in the ring is coming to a close.”

But Cena has ample time for one last match to complement his WWE legacy, “about 700 about a thousand days to decide” his storyline, perhaps returning the favor to The Rock after taking a Rock Bottom at WrestleMania 40. However, fans will not see the legendary Superstar return to the ring before his Peacemaker season 2.

Cena’s return in WrestleMania 40 alongside WrestleMania king The Undertaker was a sight to behold for fans. It was certainly the most chaotic five minutes of the entire event. Following the loss of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag match against The Rock and Roman Reigns, on Night 1, The American Nightmare had to wrestle The Tribal Chief under the agreed term, The Bloodline Rules, which meant that anything could go in the match. While mostly it was going in The Bloodline’s favor, the surprising return of Cena and The Undertaker altered the shape of the match. Rhodes broke Reigns’ legendary 1300-plus days of title reign.

Cena took a moment to address his WrestleMania moment at The Pat McAfee Show. “Many are calling this the greatest WrestleMania ever, right?” Cena asked the crowd.

“And I agree what a spectacle, what a fantastic WrestleMania, but that’s because of the talent that actually put the time in. I showed up for 90 seconds. This is the greatest WrestleMania with or without my involvement, and that is because of the now the superstars we have now and their contribution to the business.”

Right now, Cena is putting all his focus and energy on Peacemaker Season 2, and the show will be in production soon. Season 2 of the DC show on Max does not have a release date as of writing this piece.
