Anthony Mackie is all set to get his solo Captain America project in Captain America: Brave New World, slated to release in 2025. Sam Wilson has to fill in great shoes and carry the prestigious mantle after Steve Rogers passed his Vibranium shield and his title to him in Avengers: Endgame. However, the Disney+ show, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, explored Wilson’s journey from being Falcon to Captain America.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was the second Disney+ MCU series following WandaVision. Unfortunately, the show could not mimic the success of the Elizabeth Olsen series and generated a very mixed response on the internet. It looks like the debate regarding the show has resurfaced once again before the release of Captain America 4.

Was Anthony Mackie’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series bad?

It cannot be denied that compared to the number of shows the MCU had launched, only a handful were good. While both seasons of Loki are hailed by the fans as the best, WandaVision and Moon Knight, despite their problems, were also good. However, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has always been a controversial name on the list.

The Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan starring show has always divided the fans over several issues. While many fans think that the show was too preachy with its political issues, many praise its action sequences and certain moments. It is widely believed among a certain section of fans that despite the weak ending, poor villains in the form of Flag Smashers, and the cringe speech by Sam Wilson at the end, the show is largely underrated.

Even though the fans continue debating on the quality of TFATWS as a series, it can be undoubtedly concluded that it is better than many other Disney+ shows and has touched several political issues. However, it must be also addressed that sometimes the preachiness is a bit too much and the show also suffered a lot due to its limited number of episodes. The show wanted to shed light on several issues that demanded at least nine to ten episodes.

When Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers handed over the shield to Anthony Mackie’s character in the melancholic end of Avengers: Endgame, many fans were excited to see how this new story fleshes out. The Captain America franchise has been one of the most successful properties of the MCU and the fans also expect that the fourth film with Anthony Mackie also does justice to it.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier divides fans worldwide

The pop culture world still remembers how the MCU fans were baffled to see the scene of John Walker killing off a man with the Shield in TFATWS. It was something very new for the franchise before it announced to focus on more TV-MA and R-rated projects. Yet the show could not remain consistent with the Marvel Connoisseurs and slowly divided the fans over its quality.

Recently when a trusted scooper MyTimeToShineHello recalled that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was cringe, a fan war was started on X. Several fans commented that it was one of the better MCU shows and except for the speech scene, it had some great moments.

On the other hand, many fans have also agreed to the scooper on the take. They think that the show had some major flaws. Fans complained about the entire Flag Smashers angle that did not make much sense in the show. They were shown as a group believing that the world was better during the Blip. Their angle was not much appreciated by fans.

We have received several updates regarding Captain America: Brave New World and it can be said that the film has raised a chatter online. While the fans were largely excited to watch Mackie’s full-fledged outing as Captain America in his solo film, the recent updates had not been very positive. Reportedly, the entire Serpent Society has been cut from the film and Mark Ruffalo is also not there in a film mostly filled with characters related to Hulk.

Although everything is mostly rumors and cannot be confirmed before official updates arrive, it will be exciting to see if Julius Onah manages to mimic the success of the first three films. Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released on February 14, 2025. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier can be streamed on Disney+.
