Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is one of the highly awaited movies. The movie is going to see the Time Variance Authority pulling Deadpool from his quiet and peaceful life and sending him on a mission, which is going to change the history of the MCU with Wolverine.

Writer Rhett Reese describes the movie as a ‘fish-out-of-water’ story of a character who is trying to adjust to his newfound Marvel reality while still being a zany, outrageous character compared to the grounded characters of MCU. Deadpool 3 was reportedly being developed at 20th Century Fox but was put on hold after Disney acquired the studio in 2019. The original plotline of the movie has now been revealed.

“It was going to be originally a road trip movie where Deadpool tries to save Christmas, so we all go to the North Pole.”

As mentioned, Deadpool 3 starring Ryan Reynolds was being developed at 20th Century Fox with a different plot before Disney acquired the studios and thus changes were brought to the storyline. With the third installment in the Deadpool series, Ryan Reynolds is finally going to enter the MCU and fans cannot wait for it.

Actor Ryan Reynolds back in 2021 also shared via X (then Twitter) as a part of Canada’s #BellLetsTalk campaign designed to erase the stigma around the discussion of mental health, the actor revealed the original plot of the movie by stating;

“Before Disney bought Fox, Deadpool 3 was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real.”

The Rashomon style Reynolds referred to is named after Akira Kurosawa’s 1950 film Rashomon where the audience can see an event from multiple perspectives while having no idea who is telling the truth.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine’s grounded nature with Reynolds’ Deadpool’s detachment from reality and ability to break the fourth wall could have been a hilarious combination for the audience to witness if the original plot was kept in place.

X-Men actor Vinnie Jones talks about turning down Ryan Reynolds starrer Deadpool 3

Karan Soni, in his interview with Variety, shared there are going to be a lot of surprise cameos in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. This admission from the actor has only raised the expectation of the audience from the movie but at the same time one actor who’d not be appearing in Vinnie Jones who debuted as Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand.

The actor recently shared with Yahoo Movies UK that he had turned down the offer to appear in Deadpool 3 because his experience of donning the Juggernaut suit hasn’t been the best. He stated,

“Funnily enough I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one and I spoke to the director and I just said it’s such a drama putting that suit on mentally and physically. It had its mental toll as well because you’re in it and you can’t do anything all day, you can only drink through a straw. So we couldn’t strike the deal for Deadpool [and Wolverine]”.

Jones, however, had nothing but praise for the upcoming movie adding that Deadpool is his favorite movie of all time and he wanted to do it, but they didn’t have the budget to put him in the suit. The actor had played the character opposite Jackman’s Wolverine in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and was pretty upset when the director was changed from Matthew Vaughn to Brett Ratner as it altered his character.

The actor noted that the new director came on and it was not the same role as he signed on to do, adding that the director brought in so many moving parts and so many other actors that his part was diluted.

Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled for July 26th, 2024 release.
