Ryan Reynolds has fans on their toes with each new update on Deadpool 3. Although the actor has played many impressive roles in his career spanning more than three decades, the most memorable of these unsurprisingly happens to be his role as Deadpool. Much to everyone’s delight, he has never failed to impress the fans with his performance as the Merc with a Mouth.

Even with fans’ love for superhero movies waning, Deadpool seems to be a character that no one gets enough of. Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool movie has added to the excitement for its release. That being said, this is a good chance to redeem one of the X-Men villains, who was wronged in 2017’s Logan.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine’s story was brought to an end with Logan, released in 2017. The actor had officially retired from the character at the time, but surprised fans with his return as the mutant superhero in Deadpool 3, which will be bridging the gap between the X-Men and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it is reportedly going to include elements of the multiverse.

That being said, in Logan, the final flow was delivered by the hero’s clone instead of bringing his mutant half-brother Victor Creed/Sabretooth into the picture. Fans have questioned this decision for years but did not receive an answer to it until Sabretooth actor Liev Schreiber opened up about it.

In an interview with GQ, Schreiber reflected on the fun he has playing the role of Sabretooth. Upon being asked why he did not return to Logan, he said:

“They didn’t ask me! I don’t think he was part of that story. I would have loved to bring Victor back, anytime, anywhere. It wasn’t part of that narrative. I’m wondering if I’m getting a little long in the tooth, so to speak, but probably not for Sabretooth.”

He went on to share his thoughts on Ryan Reynolds‘ redeeming the Merc with the Mouth after the 2009 film was axed, saying:

“Ryan did such a great job with that transition. I feel like, in many ways, it was so antithetical to what that character was in Origins. I’m glad Ryan was able to correct that mistake.”

It is high time that justice be done to Sabretooth by including a cameo of the fan-favorite villain in Deadpool 3, which would give some sort of closure to the rivalry between Sabretooth and Wolverine.

Considering the multiverse is at play in this movie, it may not be too much of a hassle to do so. The final decision is always in the hands of the makers so only time will tell the fate of Sabretooth while fans sit with their nails between their teeth anticipating what is in store for them in the upcoming movie.

What Led to the Eventual Handover of the X-Men Franchise to Marvel?

For years, X-Men was separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the rights to those heroes were with 20th Century Fox. So, even though Marvel Entertainment was a producer for these movies, it had little to no say in the development of these films, and Kevin Feige was not very happy about it, and probably for good reason.

While the X-Men franchise is mostly a successful superhero franchise, it does not match the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This might be due to some of the decisions that did not prove too well for the franchise. For instance, not making the Deadpool movie in 2009.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine received negative reviews upon release. This is not to disregard the challenges that it faced during its development. The filming of the movie was also stunted for a while due to the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike.

If things had gone differently, Magneto, Gambit, and even the Merc with the Mouth would have their respective X-Men Origins movies. However, that did not happen. Instead, they decided to give the clawed mutant a solo sequel/reboot titled The Wolverine, which was a financial and critical success.
