The Oscars are upon us. The 2024 award season started at the beginning of the year and will culminate on 10th March with the Academy Awards. With many deserving contenders for the main categories, fans have been taking sides and making predictions. The Oscar winners are decided by anonymous Academy voters. No one except the voter knows who they voted for until it is all tallied at the end to decide the winner in each category.

Many voters have spoken anonymously to media outlets and shared their choice in each main category for this award season. And though it might seem Christopher Nolan and his magnum opus – Oppenheimer are the favorites, not everyone shares the same sentiment. Nolan and his biopic epic have breezed through award season for the most part, grabbing statues everywhere they went. But some think the hype is over-rated and do not think either Nolan or his movie deserves all that praise he has been getting.

Every year, thousand of anonymous voters cast their votes to decide winners in each category. This year, too, over 9000 voters have been at work, voting for their favorites. One of the anonymous Academy voters recently spoke to Next Best Picture, sharing who they cast their vote for in each of the main category for the year. And they don’t seem to like the season’s favorite – Christopher Nolan and his epic biopic movie, Oppenheimer.

“’Oppenheimer,’ I know it has all this buzz around it, but I just don’t admire Christopher Nolan’s method of making films. It’s a well-made movie. But I know how he treats his crew, and I don’t like it. So, I’m punishing him with my ballot.”

Choosing Barbie in the Barbenheimer debate, as well in the Best Picture category, they said,

“These films don’t always have to be heavy drama and explosions.”

Whether Barbie makes a sudden turn and ends up winning the category, or Oppenheimer continues their winning streak, or another contender somehow takes the big prize home, we will have to wait a couple more days to finally know.

Anonymous Academy Voter Is Not Happy With Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie Oscar Snub

It was not a happy day when the Oscar nominations for the 2024 seasons were announced. Though most were happy with the names that were called out, it was the absence of two that made all the noise. Barbie director Greta Gerwig and lead actress Margot Robbie were not nominated in the Best Director and Best Actress category. On the other hand, America Ferrera got a nomination for Best Supporting Actress and Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor.

Including these two categories, Barbie has been nominated for eight other categories, including Best Picture. Talking about these snubs, the anonymous voter said,

“I was very disappointed about Greta Gerwig missing for Best Director. What do they say? It’s a Shanda. It’s a real shame with a little bit of evil in it.”

They further added,

“Most men in the industry are so egotistical that they can’t stand seeing women receive accolades for great work. Also, Margot Robbie wasn’t nominated. It’s almost like, do people resent success in others? It’s all very strange to me.”

The 96th Academy Awards will be held on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will air live on ABC.
