There are many characters in Overwatch 2 from which the players can choose and play with. Unfortunately, this choice, at least until now, faced the absence of a character that would represent the Trans and the Non-Binary community respectively. That is something that has changed for the better with the introduction of a new character.

Overwatch has introduced a new Trans and Non-Binary character to the roaster.

Debuting in season 10, Venture emerges as a damage-type character, also marking the first instance of dual nationality in the game. The real identity of this Mexican Canadian character is Sloan Camereon and they represent a significant milestone as the first Trans and Non-Binary in the game.

Who Is Venture And Why Their Addition To Overwatch 2 Is A Big Deal

Fans believe it was about time the studio stepped up and took responsibility as a game production studio by adding representation for new community, and the addition of Venture helps in doing just that. In their professional career, Venture is an archaeologist who loves living an adventurous life.

Furthermore, they are 26 years old and as stated before, are the newest addition to the roster of Overwatch characters. To face the harsh truth, traditional and orthodox societal norms have always refused to acknowledge the Trans and Non-Binary community and their struggles. This is the reason why Blizzard taking a step forward towards inclusion is a welcome move by not only the community, but the whole player base.

The studio also revealed via a blog post how they wished to represent the character’s identity as authentically as possible. This prompted the development team for Venture to work in close quarters with the LGBT network at the studio to gather feedback and perfect the character over time.

It also feels like Blizzard is finally starting to get on the right track as they have begun to take more positive steps towards making the game a safer place for the players. The studio recently revealed how they are keeping track of players who cheat in the game and plans to punish them soon.

Developers have finally begun to crack down on cheaters in the game.

Likewise, embracing Venture’s identity is not the only positive trait about the new character, as they also bring with themselves new abilities and techniques, allowing players to execute unique and new moves never seen before in the game.

What Are The Abilities Of Venture In Overwatch 2

Venture luckily has a lot of variety in their move set, bringing new content in the gameplay for the players to experience. The first ability is the Smart Excavator, which launches a seismic charge and bursts after traveling a short distance.

Further, there is Drill Dash, which as the name suggests allows the player to dash forward, knocking enemies backwards. There is also the ‘Burrow’ ability, which allows the player to move underground and become invulnerable. The player can also have the option to emerge suddenly while using this ability, damaging enemies in the process.

Lastly, the ultimate ability, called Tectonic Shock, transforms the character’s weapon and allows them to send shockwaves that travel through the ground. Unfortunately, the ultimate ability cannot be activated while the character is underground, ultimately meaning the player needs to be on the surface to utilize it.

Overwatch 2 is available to download on Steam.
