Paul Rudd has become a seminal part of the MCU as Ant-Man. His debut in the charming 2015 solo film intrigued audiences and brought a new type of superhero for audiences. The Quantum Realm, which was introduced in his solo film, became a huge factor in the Avengers defeating Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

Ant-Man 3 introduced the next big bad for the MCU in the form of Knag. However, both the film and the character were not received well by fans. After the disastrous results of the film, the future of Ant-Man is uncertain, and even Rudd does not know when or if his character will ever return to the MCU.

Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man has been loved by audiences over the years as the character brings a certain levity and charm to the MCU. The first two Ant-Man films came out after the release of the bombastic and large-scale Avengers films. They proved to be palate cleansers that brought back the much-needed laughs and fun after heavy-stakes Avengers film.

However, the third Ant-Man film proved to be a total misfire despite being the introduction of the next big bad of the MCU in the form of Jonathan Majors‘ Kang. It underperformed at the box office and was considered one of the worst offerings of the MCU in recent years. It is not known when Ant-Man will appear next, and the recent failure has surely put a dent in his potential appearance in the future.

Paul Rudd was recently promoting Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and was asked about his future as Ant-Man in the MCU. The actor stated that he has no idea when his character will appear next in the MCU. He further claimed that it is up to Marvel Studios to decide whether to bring back the character or not. He said (via X),

“I have no idea. None whatsoever. You know, that’s always in their camp. And we’ll see if they have ideas that were to come about then I guess we find out but I don’t really know.”

Marvel might bring back Ant-Man, at least for one of the upcoming Avengers films. Before that, the character is not expected to make an appearance in other projects. It remains to be seen how the studio plans to use Ant-Man next.

Paul Rudd returns to the world of Ghostbusters with the recently released Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Rudd plays Gary Grooberson, and the film follows the events after 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife and deals with the Ghostbusters dealing with an ancient evil force that threatens the world with a second Ice Age.

Rudd talked to Digital Spy about working on the film and starring alongside original Ghostbusters Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd. The actor was so excited about working with these legendary actors. He and the young cast members felt like imposters being in the franchise, and seeing those actors in their iconic Ghostbusters suits was an absolute thrill for him. He said,

“You can never get used to that. It’s a thrill, obviously, but it’s a bit strange to just be in the room [with them]. It’s strange to have the suit on, all that stuff, and we feel like imposters anyway, but to look over and go, ‘There they are’ and we can see them in suits.”

The film also stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor,  Logan Kim, Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswalt. The film received average reviews from critics but most fans seemed to have enjoyed the film. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is currently playing in theatres.
