The most important aspect of fighting games such as this is the character roster. Not only does it have to be robust, but it has to feature not only prominent characters but also those with a cult following. Thankfully, Sparking Zero is going to do both, as we have confirmation of a particular character that rarely gets screen time.

This Character is Coming from the Future to Lend a Hand

Two-handed Kamehamehas are no longer the norm.

Akira Toriyama’s universe has grown exponentially, in a very literal sense. With all the different off-shoots of Dragon Ball, we have new characters entering the fray from all angles. But there is something special about getting to play as a character from the original run of Dragon Ball Z. The latest reveal has confirmed players will be able to use one-armed Future Gohan as a fighter right from launch!

The confirmation comes from screenshots of the game featured in the Japanese magazine V Jump. There are a lot of characters revealed in these screenshots, and one corner is dedicated to one-armed Future Gohan clashing against Android 17. This Gohan is from an alternate timeline where Goku passed away due to the Heart Virus, resulting in Android 17 and 18 wreaking havoc on Earth.

This version of Gohan does not receive much media attention but has a very dedicated fan following due to how different he is from the Gohan we know. Far more focused on being strong and winning, his one-armed appearance further adds to his appeal.

Redditor Eikamik shared the screenshot to r/tenkaichi4, where fans expressed their happiness and excitement. Many are happy that the body part is not going to be censored as it was done in Xenoverse 2, where he had both arms but used only one in combat.

The game is not the first recent title to have this character. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot featured this version of Gohan in its DLC. But this is the first time since Dragon Ball Z: Sagas that the character will be part of the already massive roster from day one.

With all of these characters on the roster, it stands to reason that the campaign is going to span all the events of the series until the present day. Tenkaichi 3 featured most of the iconic fights from Z and the original series in the campaign, and we will also get events from Super in Sparking Zero.

There is no release date or even a release window for the game yet. While it has been announced for PlayStation, PC, and Xbox, the Xbox Store page for the game has been defunct for a few days. This has led fans to believe the game might be canceled for Microsoft’s console.
