Robert Pattinson’s most infamous role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise remains a black mark on his career, as many labeled him as the ‘sparkly vampire’ who couldn’t act to save his life. Thankfully, the general perception has changed a lot.

In an interview with Louis Theroux for his Grounded podcast, FKA Twigs candidly discussed the hurtful and ignorant abuse she endured, attributing it to fans of her former partner, Robert Pattinson. She expressed her belief that some fans wanted to see Pattinson with a white woman, viewing him as their “white Prince Charming.” Consequently, she faced racist attacks online, with individuals comparing her to monkeys and making derogatory remarks.

“He was their white Prince Charming and I think they considered that he should definitely be with somebody white and blonde and not me,” she said. “Whatever I did at that time, people would find pictures of monkeys and have me doing the same thing as the monkeys.”

This relentless racism took a toll on Twigs, describing it as bullying and acknowledging its psychological impact. She shared how the constant derogatory comments led her to develop a dysmorphic view of herself, fearing that others would perceive her as monkey-like in appearance. This self-consciousness affected her deeply, causing her to feel the need to hide her perceived flaws to avoid further criticism.

I remember it had this massive, dysmorphic effect on me for about six months to a year, where every time I saw my pictures and photographs I would think, ‘Gosh, I look like a monkey, and people are going to say I look like a monkey. So I need to really try and hide this monkey-ness that I have, because otherwise, people are gonna come for me about it.”

Twigs expressed that she has since become more confident, but emphasized the unfairness of being made to feel bad about herself during that period. Her relationship with Pattinson came to an end in 2017.

The trailer unfolds with a poignant exchange between the characters Eric and Shelly, portrayed by Bill Skarsgård and FKA twigs, respectively. Shelly reflects on Eric’s captivating allure, describing him as “brilliantly broken.”

As the narrative unfolds, Eric’s tragic fate unfolds as he is brutally murdered alongside Shelly. However, his journey doesn’t end there; resurrected as The Crow with “the power of a god,” Eric embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance against those responsible for their deaths.
