Xbox and PlayStation have been at the helm of the console wars for quite some time now. While PlayStation has mostly trumped its competition in sales and popularity, with the upcoming swashbuckling titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, fans thought Xbox was rearing for their next move.
However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer’s tweet regarding the major decisions that Xbox is going to take as a company has left fans quite rattled, even the PlayStation fanboys. While they still stood adamant and held their ground regarding PlayStation being better, they reiterated that they would not prefer Sony having a monopoly over the consoles as Microsoft may be going cross-platform.
Amidst reports of multiple Xbox titles like Starfield getting PS5 ports, the internet has been rife with speculation as to what Phil Spencer’s “vision for the future of Xbox” could entail.
Rumors of Cross-Platform: Xbox Conceding Console War?
On normal days, Xbox and PlayStation fans never let an opportunity pass without one-upping the other console. However, with the news of big changes coming, even PlayStation fans are worried. So, what did Phil say in his tweet that is causing such angst among gamers?
We’re listening and we hear you. We’ve been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.

While there is no concrete evidence regarding Microsoft going cross-platform, the gaming community has unanimously decided that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
The Xbox fans, while voicing their discontent with the proposed cross-platform scheme, got unlikely allies in the form of PlayStation Fanboys.
Making Xbox/Microsoft full 3rd party will in the long term be worse for overall gaming.

And keep in mind I am basically a PlayStation fanboy saying this, competition is good. When y’all compete WE WIN
Microsoft might be going the same way with their Xbox-exclusive titles, as the rumors for the cross-platform release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are already doing the rounds on the internet.
With Microsoft’s supposed exit from the console industry, fans are panicking, thinking about Sony’s monopoly and how that might affect the price of the games, among other things.
The Console War: The End?
There has been no definitive news as of yet, apart from Phil Spencer’s somehow cryptic tweet. Fans believe Microsoft should not go cross-platform. The primary fear behind this reaction from the fans is the general increase in the price of PlayStation games in spite of the ongoing console war.
Said the same thing and there’s a console war under my reply, Less competition means more room for Sony to act up, they already raised PS+ prices and made games $70, it’ll get worse without competition

This sentiment was echoed equally from the other side, as fans blamed Microsoft for the same: caring more about money than their own player community.
Microsoft only cares about the money not their people sad, but it’s true.

Everything seems to point at the curtain call of the console war that video game fans have come to enjoy over the years. Funny banter and memes regarding the console war is a great way for the gaming community to intermingle. So, it remains to be seen whether we see it again.
