The annual celebration for all things Pokémon is here, and fans are in for a treat. President and CEO of The Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, hosted a special event to mark the occasion and with the corresponding announcement video, fans were treated to a look at a couple of new titles.
One of the most important days on the calendar for fans of the franchise, today, was no different and when the announcement video went live at 9 am EST, millions were tuning in to catch the latest news. The news ranged from smaller updates, to live services games, to some of the more eye-catching announcements, which made many fans sit up and take notice.
What was announced at Pokémon Day 2024?
Pokémon Legends: Z to A
As can be seen from the announcement video, this one remains a bit of a mystery, and the footage shown doesn’t appear to give much away, other than it is set in Lumiose City. On the official website, it was described with the following;
A new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon. Please look forward to seeing it for yourself.
The game has been confirmed for a worldwide release in 2025, however, at the time of writing, there is no official date. Looking at the comments on Social Media, fans cannot wait for this title to drop;
It’s about time for a Kalos Legends game 😭😭 I hope this will be good

Whilst there wasn’t much to go on with the announcement video, it appears that the air of mystery has only heightened the anticipation for this title.
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket
Those who enjoy their mobile gaming can look forward to a new card-collecting title for their favorite franchise. The new app, which allows the collecting and trading of the various cards, also sees players being able to battle. But it does look like the biggest attraction of the game will be tearing open those shiny packs of cards to see what you’ve collected.
The company stated that it will be an immersive experience for fans, as they open the booster packs. Nintendo wants players to have the same enjoyment with the digital offerings, as they would the physical cards. Fans can open two packs a day at no cost and there will be some new cards, which will only be found in the app. Fans may be excited to hear that some cards will have a hint of nostalgia attached as well.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid Battles
Some heavy-hitting characters will feature in the upcoming Tera Raid Battles for both Scarlet and Violet. From 28 February to 5 March, The Mighty Venusaur, event will run and it will be followed by, The Mighty Blastoise, an event which runs goes from 6 March to 12 March. The run will conclude with, The Mighty Charizard, an event from 13 March to 17 March. Plenty for fans to look forward to in the next three weeks.
Some other Pokémon favourites get updates.

Pokémon Go fans have been vocal about wanting to see updates for the game, and they have not been forgotten about. Step forward, Captain Pikachu. Yes, the fan favourite gets their very own headwear and has learned a new move called Volt Tackle. Not only that, fans can now see Ceruledge, Charcadet, and Armourage added to the game alongside Liko and Roy.
