A new Pokémon Day has passed, and new and pretty great updates from the franchise have been revealed. Every February 27, The Pokémon Company has declared that this date will be the official celebration for fans of Pokémon all over the world.
In this event, a new Pokémon Legends was introduced to be launched in 2025, and no much more for the console games. As for Pokémon Go, Captain Pikachu will be part of an in-game event. This version of Pikachu was introduced in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
Captain Pikachu will arrive to Pokémon Go
Back in 2016, The Pokémon Company, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red, declared that February 27 would always be Pokémon Day. Since that date, this company has always shared new announcements for games and projects at this event. This year, the new Pokémon Legends Z-A was announced with a 2025 release date. Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has also shown the first trailer, which will come this year. Pokémon Go will add a new kind of Pikachu in a limited event.
Captain Pikachu is coming from Pokémon Horizons: The Series. This anime comes just after the Ash Ketchum series finally came to an end after more than 25 years. This Pikachu will not come alone; Ceruledge, Charcadet, and Armarouge will join the game, as will Liko and Roy, the protagonists of this new anime. The event will be available on Pokémon Go from March 5 to March 11. The mobile game has several events themed around all the Pokémon generations that have launched until now.
Pokémon future, and what could this last announcement mean?
The announcement that caught the attention of fans was Pokémon Legends: Z-A. At the end of the trailer, the message was: “Releasing simultaneously worldwide in 2025.” This could refer to regions or new platforms, like the soon-to-be-released Nintendo Switch. According to rumors, this console will launch sometime in 2025. This message in the trailer could mean that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will be released on both the original and the next Nintendo Switch. This may not mean anything, but it is a really weird move from The Pokémon Company not to launch any Pokémon-related games this year.
Pokémon have a couple of rough launches with the Nintendo Switch not running the games, which is the best possible. The Switch was released in 2017. In the last few years, the console has shown that, apart from the exclusive games, many third-party titles could not run smoothly because of the hardware of the Switch. The announcement of the new console is imminent.
