Following the success of One Piece, there has been a surge of live-action, and one of the most acclaimed manga series, City Hunter, is getting its own live-action adaptation, which will be released on Netflix on April 25, 2024. Netflix recently released information about two more cast members and they are Masanobu Ando and Fumino Kimura.

Although the majority of the live-action adaptations are based on new and recently released stories, it looks like Netflix wants to experiment with different stuff since their latest adaptation is based on an old-gen manga series.

The latest live-action adaptation by Netflix is based on City Hunter, the legendary manga that captivated Japan, sold over 50 million copies, and was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump between 1985 and 1991.

The movie name might ring some bells as one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars, Jackie Chan, was part of the movie-based on Tsukasa Hojo manga series titled City Hunter, which was released on January 14, 1993.

Fans are very excited to see the live-action adaptation, which will be released in April 2024. Recently, Netflix shared details about more cast members and revealed information about two actors who would be starring in the film alongside Ryō Saeba and Misato Morita.

The two names are Masanobu Ando, who will play Ryō Saeba’s partner Hideyuki Makimura, and Fumino Kimura, who will play detective Saeko Nogami in the upcoming movie. Both of these actors are well known among the Japanese audience.

Masanobu has starred in films such as Rohan at the Louvre and Battle Royale. Fumino is also someone with a massive fan following, which she gained after starring in films such as Love Life and Love for Beginners.

The revelation about these two actors being on board has impressed a lot of fans, who are desperately waiting for April to see their characters brought to life by these amazing actors.

City Hunter, the upcoming film, will star Ryōhei Suzuki as Ryo Saeba, while Yuichi Sato directs the movie from behind the camera. Ryōhei will be paired with Misato Morita, who is going to depict Kaori Makimura.

Tatsuhiro Mishima penned the movie’s script, and he was also the one behind another popular live-action Yu Yu Hakusho. Music is one of the most crucial aspects of a movie and for this project, it would be done by Yoshihide Otomo, who did music for Lupin Zero and more.

The plot of the story is based on Ryō Saeba, a gunman who is known for hunting down viscous criminals in the valleys of modern-day Shinjuku. Every bullet he fires from his Colt. 357 magnum is destined to hit his target.

Unfortunately, his partner Hideyuki Makimura gets murdered and leaves his sister Kaori under his care, where they both start prospering in a romantic relationship filled with challenges and adverseries.
