Pokémon has always been the story of a boy wanting to become the best trainer in the world. The tale is something most, if not all, fans would be familiar with. The world within offers a variety of creatures that are both representatives of the real world and a mixture of the fictional. From Pikachu to Charizard, the range is unimaginably huge.
It has always had the opportunity to captivate audiences with little to no effort, which can make some aspects of the franchise be overlooked. One such example would be Ash Ketchum’s capability of holding and lifting Pokémon with ease. While at first glance, this would seem normal, upon further dissection, it is far from it.
Pokémon weigh ridiculously a lot, making it difficult for a normal human to hold them on a regular basis. This begs the question : Is Ash Ketchum even human?
No Pokémon is Easy to Pick Up
In a viral video by @packapunchpanda on Instagram, a fan was seen in the gym and lifting weights as per what Ash Ketchum would in Pokémon. The video focused on comparing many different Pokémon weights and seeing if one would be able to lift them the same way Ash does or not. From easily carrying a Beedrill that weighs about 65 lbs to letting a Fletchinder sit on his arm, which weighs no less than 35.3 lbs.
The video gradually tried to replicate the same, testing if Ash, who does all of this as if it is nothing but muscle memory to him; and a regular gym-going person would be able to match. Needless to say, the results were far from it. The fan was barely able to keep up with the Pokémon trainer and how casually he could pick and hold Pokémon.
This happens to be interesting, seeing that a normal human would have difficulty even picking up a Pokémon.
Ash Ketchum May Not Even Be Human
A theory that could fit in would explain exactly why Ash’s ability to basically heavy-lift Pokémon comes with such ease to him. Professor Oak is one of the most renowned researchers in the fictional world, and Ash just so happens to be near and dear to him. Having an affinity for the creatures, there is a strong possibility that he was created in a test tube.
It has already been proven that genetically modified Pokémon can be created, seeing that Mewtwo was made out of Mew. So to think that Ash, too, was a hybrid of the same would be negligent to not consider.
Ash could have always been a mix of both human and Pokémon, explaining why he has no problems picking up and spinning around with creatures that would otherwise take a normal human a lot of effort to even pick up.
