The Hollywood Reporter previously speculated that the movie is said to be set in 1970s Southern California and is inspired by a cynical movie critic Tarantino read growing up. Tarantino has remained tight-lipped about the project.

Tarantino has, for years, expressed his intention to stop making films after his 10th film. In 2012, he told Playboy,

I want to stop at a certain point. Directors don’t get better as they get older. Usually, the worst films in their filmography are those last four at the end. I am all about my filmography, and one bad film f*cks up three good ones. I don’t want that bad, out-of-touch comedy in my filmography, the movie that makes people think, ‘Oh man, he still thinks it’s 20 years ago.’ When directors get out-of-date, it’s not pretty.” (Via GQ)

The report also mentions that Sony Pictures will likely distribute the film, and Stacey Sher will serve as a producer. A 2025 release is eyed for what will be Tarantino’s final movie.

Quentin Tarantino Called Brad Pitt One of Hollywood’s Last Real Movie Stars

Quentin Tarantino, who directed Brad Pitt in Inglourious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, once called him one of the last remaining big movie stars

In an interview with GQ, the director described him as

“One of the last remaining big-screen movie stars. He suggests an older-style movie star. It’s just a different breed of man. And frankly, I don’t think you can describe exactly what that is because it’s like describing starshine.

He’s really good-looking,” Tarantino added, talking about the star.

I noticed it when we were doing Inglourious Basterds. When Brad was in the shot, I didn’t feel like I was looking through the viewfinder of the camera. I felt like I was watching a movie. Just his presence in the four walls of the frame created that impression.”

Meanwhile, Pitt has been busy filming his two upcoming projects. The first is the thriller Wolves, alongside his friend and co-star George Clooney, directed by Jon Watts. The other film is the yet-untitled Formula 1 racing drama, directed by Joseph Kosinski, who directed Top Gun Maverick (2022).
