While many actors have portrayed the Man of Steel, Henry Cavill has remained a crowd favorite in recent times. With dashing looks, brooding persona, and towering physicality, the actor had every bit of charm and gravitas needed to play Superman. Yet he was let go of when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the reins of DC studio.
And now it is David Corenswet who will be donning the iconic red and blue suit in the upcoming Superman. Even though the actor is busy bulking up for the role, it seems he might never be able to win over critics who still hail Cavill as the best Superman.
David Corenswet is Bulking Up For Superman
When David Corenswet‘s Superman was first announced, fans were visibly shocked. Not because they did not expect a new Superman but because of his lack of physique. The 190.5 cm tall actor did seem to have the prowess to take on such a role but severely lacked the brooding and commanding presence that his predecessor, Henry Cavill had.
Although a bit shorter than Corenswet, Cavill’s physique is known for being one of the best in the entertainment world. And so, to possibly please DC fans and as such a role would normally demand the actor to bulk up, the Politician star has been busy spending time in the gym.

Busy keeping a low profile ever since his casting was first announced, Corenswet’s drastic physical transformation is visible in the above Reddit post. Even his trainer, Paolo Mascitti, posted a photo of the actor in the gym on his Instagram, showing how dedicated Corenswet is towards the DC role.
Meanwhile, Rachel Brosnahan, Superman’s Lois Lane, also teased in an interview with THR that the Look Both Ways star has been doing fight training as well for the role. Although this proves just how passionate Corenswet is for the role, many critics are not convinced and still want Henry Cavill back.

Henry Cavill played the dark, gritty, and intense Man of Steel in Zack Snyder’s DCEU. And ever since, the actor has often been described as the human embodiment of the character. Even now, as Corenswet has been cast as the new Last Son of Krypton, many are still hung over Cavill’s firing.

While the criticism and Henry Cavill vs David Corenswet battle continues, it is important to remember that not every fan can be pleased. As for how Corenswet will look like and whether he would make a good Superman or not, we will have to wait until the movie is released.
