After the World Cup win has cemented the Argentine’s fame as the one who won almost everything, he has been enjoying the concluding days of his career in Major League Soccer (MLS), where he plays for Inter Miami. However, his recent statement regarding his favorite TV series has the fans disappointed.
When Lionel Messi recently shared some details from his personal life on the Big Time Podcast (via ESPN FC) he admitted that Game of Thrones is his favorite TV series. The former FC Barcelona star added that he has watched it numerous times- “I’ve watched it more than once”.
The Rosario-born sporting legend has earlier expressed his love for the show when he posted a photo with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo, and the Jon Snow star, Kit Harrington with the caption “Lord Commander Jon Snow”. The Sun reported that Messi met Harrington at Parc des Princes during a Champions League match between his former team, PSG against Benfica.
Even though Lionel Messi’s choice of his favorite TV Series received a thumbs-up from many fans, a certain section sees it as a “big L”. They took over the internet to claim how the GOAT has badly fumbled in this department.

It is no lie that the Game of Thrones had one of the most controversial finales in a TV Series. It was not worth all the hype and fun that we experienced through the past seven seasons. While the show had some of the best story arcs, visuals, and action set pieces, nothing could save the story from going downhill in the final season.
The creative decisions taken for the series finale received widespread criticism from the fans. It also led several fans to even forget about its existence. On the other hand, it also limits the series from existing on several Best Series lists despite the show being stellar at least till Season 5. Even though Game of Thrones did not see a good reception during its last days, House of the Dragon enjoyed a successful run. The spin-off series managed to bring back the GoT fans and garnered widespread appreciation. Starting from the performances to the visual effects and story, everything was good and convinced the makers to greenlight more seasons.
