Many were worried when Reacher arrived on Prime Video last year, and I was one of them. After Lee Child almost ruined the series with the praise of Tom Cruise in the film adaptation, he finally came to his senses. How can the fictional ex-military policeman be played by an actor who could easily fit in the character’s pocket?

Enter Alan Ritchson, who embodies the look with obvious physical gifts. Yet, the actor was best known for his role as “Young Scully” on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Turkey Bowl, The Blue Mountain State, and the uncredited role of Thad on Frasier. Is he the biggest, baddest, and best Jack Reacher ever?

Well, Ritchson did that and then some. In the first three episodes, you can watch Ritchson headbutt, claw, punch, knee to the face, toss men off buildings, and even drown someone in cement. And in episode three, he finally meets a foil who can match his tough guy’s attitude and moral compass. That’s actor Domenick Lombardozzi, and he’s phenomenal in the role.

Here’s what happened in Reacher Season 2, Episode 3:

  • Reacher is arrested by Detective Gaitano ‘Guy’ Russo (Domenick Lombardozzi). The Last time we saw Russo, Reacher knocked him out cold when he thought he was a bad guy, not an NYPD cop. O’Donnell rides to the station with his friend because, as Jack puts it, he graduated from the 91st-ranked law school in the United States, Rutgers University.
  • Reacher (Ritchson) thinks Russo may be dirty but proves it when he exchanges information from Franz’s printer’s memory card. It was the last case file for Azhari Mahmoud. Yes, it’s one of the names on Franz’s list. Jack tells the detective about it. Sanchez and Orozco helped Franz track the name down.
  • Azhari Mahmoud is on the list of aliases Neagley (Maria Sten) found in an encrypted thumb drive from Franz. The assumption is that the assassin hired by New Age, the company the 101st believes is behind the murders of their friends. Mahmoud is also known as Andrew McBride. He calls Langston after he spots an undercover cop at the airport.
  • While investigating Saropian’s New Age parking pass, they questioned Marlo Burns, the New Age Director of Operations. She says the killer interviewed for an office supply cleaning job and gave them his address. The team knows this is a setup and kills an entire home of assassins waiting for them.
  • When Reacher and the team enter the New Age, they steal their files and hard drives. However, he sees a picture on the wall. It’s of their missing friend, Tony Swan, smiling in a New Age company group photo. Jack says, “He was working at New Age with the people trying to kill us.”

Predictions for Reacher Season 2 Episode 4

  • Is Swan working with New Age? There’s an implication that since they cannot find him, he may have switched sides. However, we cannot dismiss that he may have worked with Franz to take down a terror plot. Something tells me Swan still has the Reacher stamp of approval.
  • I am worried about O’Donnell because they are playing up the family aspect of his life now. When that happens, it usually makes for a more profound impact when someone is killed. Say goodbye to O’Donnell by the penultimate episode.
  • Will we see any special guest stars from the first season? Roscoe or Oscar? I predict Roscoe will make an appearance. And since Dixon (Serinda Swan) is now romantically involved in making loud grunting sounds with Reacher most nights, the love triangle storyline is classic television.
  • Jack will eventually eat another Clark Bar.
