Emma Stone and Lily Gladstone are the frontrunners to win the Best Actress Oscar this year. Stone has so far won the Golden Globe, Critics Choice Awards, and BAFTA among many others for her role as Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things. Gladstone, on the other hand, won the Golden Globe for Killers of the Flower Moon but was controversially omitted from BAFTA nominations. She won the Best Actress Award at Saturday’s SAG Awards and Emma Stone’s reaction to it has sparked some interesting internet talk.
When Jessica Chastain announced the Best Actress at the 30th SAG Awards, Stone was very enthusiastic about Gladstone receiving the award. However, some fans were not entirely convinced of her enthusiasm for the Reservation Dogs actress’s win.

When the Academy Award nominees were announced on January 23, 2024, five talented actresses got the nod for the Best Actress category. However, the award season has been largely favoring two actresses — Emma Stone for Poor Things and Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon. The other performances were also some of the best and included Carey Mulligan in Maestro, Annette Bening in NYAD, and Sandra Hüller in Anatomy of a Fall.
On Saturday, four out of these five actresses competed in the SAG Awards alongside Margot Robbie, who was snubbed at the Oscars. Gladstone went on to win the prestigious award for the Martin Scorsese film. While many fans hailed this act as a sweet gesture from Stone, some were skeptical about the La La Land actress’s overly enthusiastic reaction. The negative reactions criticized Stone’s reaction, sharing that it appeared totally fake and insincere. One fan commented that the room was full of actors, hinting that Stone was just acting like she was happy. However, the more positive reactions shared that The Amazing Spider-Man actress was genuinely happy for Lily Gladstone. One even tried to correct the people calling her phony by pointing out that she had similar excitement when Olivia Colman won the Oscar for The Favourite. One comment shared that she was respecting the competition rather than just complaining about her loss. The more positive reactions read:

With the SAG win, Lily Gladstone proved that she has equal footing with Emma Stone in winning the Best Actress Oscar. For Stone, this Oscar will be her second, after winning one at the 89th Academy Awards for La La Land. For Gladstone, her debut Oscar also has a greater significance due to her Native American identity.
Emma Stone And Lily Gladstone Are Good Friends
While fans try to speculate about the ‘award’ beef between them, it appears that Emma Stone and Lily Gladstone have already formed a great friendship. It was Gladstone who opened up about her newfound friend, Stone, during an interview with Vanity Fair. Talking largely about her fashionwear, Gladstone revealed at one point she had a matching accessory with the Easy A actress.
They have matching Infinity Stones rings and hence gave the nickname ‘Infinity Stones’ to each other. Gladstone shared with Vanity Fair:
“My Infinity Stones ring— Emma Stone has the same one. She sent this to me yesterday, and then she sent me a picture of her wearing the same one because we became fast friends in this whole process. And that’s our thing. We call each other Infinity Stones.”
Many fans were excited to know that these two lovely actresses were on a nickname basis.
