The Mandalorian game by EA and Respawn Entertainment based on Star Wars was canceled due to layoffs and cost-cutting. Fans blamed the publisher, but sources claimed the owner was responsible. The cancellation was part of Bob Iger’s mission to control the entertainment industry. The developers at Respawn were the true victims.

In business, there is no absolutes, only deals and promises. Disney has entrusted various publishers and studios to work on several IPs that they own ranging from Star Wars, Marvel, and more. Investing a billion dollars grants Disney about 9% of its stake in Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, is an interesting move that further proves Iger’s master plan to dominate the entertainment industry in all media.

Emperor Iger Strikes Back As He Forced Push EA To Back Out On The Mandalorian Game

The scrapped Mandalorian game could have been a massive success like the Star Wars Jedi series.

Earlier reports have indicated that EA opted to go with another Disney-owned IP like Marvel’s Iron Man and Marvel’s Black Panther, perhaps due to their popularity and having already established the successful Star Wars Jedi series means they could explore other avenues.

YouTube channel Star Wars Theory took the time to explain, according to a trusted source he has, that it was all Disney’s fault why the Mandalorian project is grounded. Iger wanted an out from his deals with EA, in a clever yet conniving move, he ordered an increase in profit percentage than what was originally agreed upon, forcing EA’s hand to sever their ties to Disney. Rather than breaching the contract, Iger used his leverage wisely to avoid penalties.

Iger has his eyes set on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine for their use in movies and other projects. Disney has changed the timeline for their Disney+ projects as well like making The Mandalorian and Grogu a film instead of greenlighting a fourth season, the source also claims that Iger is leaning towards a direction to conclude the Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau’s Mandoverse immediately.

Iger’s Ambition Could Lead To The Downfall Of Disney

Bob Iger's moves has heavy ramifications on The Mandalorian saga of Star Wars, and harmed other developers like Respawn.

As a businessman, Iger’s priority is to protect the company by expanding, he has seen the popularity of gaming and wants their slice of the pie by utilizing Unreal Engine to their advantage, hence, the billion-dollar investment could pay off eventually but hurting upcoming projects was the cost. All future games are now in danger of being delayed or canceled altogether.

In the grand scheme of things, Iger is looking at a bigger picture that fans can’t see yet, probably not in a few years but if he was willing to sacrifice projects he knew would be successful, then maybe Star Wars fans could get something better than a Mandalorian game. With all that said, fans will have to wait and see if Disney can deliver and hope Respawn can recover like their namesake. Are you upset about Iger’s moves? Share your thoughts below!
