Despite the somewhat lukewarm reception it received and a few launch issues, Rise of the Ronin has a lot to like. Despite that, players have highlighted some points of improvement in the game. At this point, there is a mixed reception from the players and critics alike. But one debate recently sparked over the internet that reflects excitement among the game’s enthusiasts.
The game tells the story of a war between Tokugawa Shogunate and various factions resisting the western influence during the final years of the Edo period. The lead characters of the game are the Blad Twins who get involved in the Veiled Edge resistance group following the murder of their family. They both seek to overthrow the Tokugawa Shogunate.
Rise of The Ronin Could be Considered Something of a Hidden Gem
In a conversation sparked by a user dubbed juiceboxcitay on the social network Reddit, the individual writes, “Damn, are people sleeping on Rise of the Ronin???” The user then went on to explain how the game has been a delight to play.
“Ghost of Tsushima is the better game, but I feel like in a few years this be considered to be a hidden gem and have a devoted fan base similar to Days Gone,” the user believes.

Sentiments over social media platform X (formerly Twitter) aren’t very different. User Lance McDonald says, “I’m 35 hours into Rise of the Ronin (still in chapter 1) and this game is really good.”
I'm 35 hours into Rise of the Ronin (still in chapter 1) and this game is really good. I agree it's a bit surprising it's priced as a full AAA title price, when it doesn't *quite* meet that high standard in any regard, but it's a huge upgrade for Team Ninja's engine and I love it pic.twitter.com/efvQHO9tL3

Whatever the negative sentiments around the game are, these users certainly are enjoying the Edo period.
This Just the Beginning, More Players Could Flock To The Game
Maybe the game isn’t for everyone and some are even craving the Ghost of Tsushima sequel as they play Rise of the Ronin. Sadly, however they have to will have to wait for the next installment as it isn’t likely that the game will arrive this year. That doesn’t necessarily make Team Ninja’s ambitious project a bad game.
It wasn’t an easy feat for the developers to create such a game. From in-depth research surrounding the history, to setting up the narrative, they came a long way. It also kind of challenges FromSoftware’s Elden Ring in some aspects, but it still has a lot to accomplish if we are to compare both.
Sales figures aren’t very juicy for the game but it recently managed to shift an additional 20K copies in Japan, bringing the tally to 85K units sold in the country. We don’t know how it will perform in the months to come but it can be speculated that these positive sentiments could attract more players flocking in to add to their gaming shelves.
