Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin is set to hit PlayStation 5 on March 22, and fans of the studio have high expectations for it. The Edo-period title is a free-roam game from the same team that brought us Nioh, so people are expecting some similarities in gameplay and mechanics.
PlayStation has been breadcrumbing us with vignette trailers, giving us small glimpses of what we can expect within the game. The trailers so far have gone over combat details, story beats, and some BTS with the development team. Now, the latest leak from the game might be the biggest source of information regarding what we will get up to in Rise of the Ronin.
The Leaked Trophy List of Rise of the Ronin Reveals Key Game Details
The list was posted on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit by u/-LastGrail- taken originally from PowerPyx. Some of the initial trophies are standard fare and expected when it comes to single-player games. They are earned after completing certain quests and advancing the story. There is a special mention of a Blade Twin-related trophy, showing this character is going to play a significant role in the story.
Other trophies on the list can offer a wider understanding of the world Team Ninja has created in their PlayStation exclusive. Titled “Veiled Vow,” this trophy is earned by starting your first romantic relationship, confirming the presence of romance options in Rise of the Ronin. The developers have stated previously that relationships and bonds will determine the player’s experience.
“Fresh Start’ is earned by remodeling your longhouse, presumably a base or headquarters that you can customize. There are also a few trial- and training-based trophies for horseback archery, gliding, firearms training, and dojo duels. Feline aficionados will be happy to know we will be collecting cats on our adventures, as the “Cats All Over” trophy is earned by collecting all cats in the game.
“Fancy Meeting You Here” is awarded for 50 chance encounters, which sounds a lot like the random events that occur when riding around in Red Dead Redemption 2. “Style Guru” is earned by mastering three combat styles, allowing players to choose their manner of attack in any given scenario.
There’s a Lot to Do in the World of Rise of the Ronin
The game is going to have some very heavy and serious moments, but it’s good to see people taking a breather by chasing some cats and gliding across the landscape. Interestingly, there are no trophies for completing the game on a certain difficulty.
This may mean there is no difficulty option for the story, and players will have to contend with the developers’ tuning. The only difficulty-related trophy is “Midnight Crossing,” obtained by completing an optional Ronin mission on Midnight difficulty.
Overall, Rise of the Ronin is shaping up to be a pretty substantial experience from what we’ve seen so far. The Nioh fanbase is going to try this game for sure, but the change from a fantastical setting to a period piece may bring in a wider audience as well.
