Have you ever played a game so much that you feel like you could navigate it perfectly if you actually went there? Well, one GTA 5 player felt exactly the same way, and they aren’t just any GTA player, as they are also a world cup-winning football player called Hugo Lloris.
One amazing skill that gamers have developed over the years is the fact that they can easily remember maps in a game, to the point that even some players can navigate them blindfolded.
For some games, these maps are based on real-life locations and are so similar that if you played the game and then went to the location it is based in, you could navigate it just on your video game memory, just like Hugo Lloris believed upon his journey to LA to become a part of the LA FC.
Map Memory Saves the Day Once Again When Hugo Lloris Uses His GTA 5 Memory to Navigate LA
Recently, the World Cup-winning footballer Hugo Lloris moved to LA after joining the Major Soccer League Club LA FC after being let go from Tottenham at the end of the last season, but thanks to this, he has now moved on to bigger and better things and will only go further from here.
In a recent interview with GetFootballNewsFrance, Hugo Lloris talks about his recent move from London to LA and how he felt this move would be no big deal as he had already played a lot of GTA and knew a lot of the scenic locations, like the back of his hand.
Throughout the interview, he described how the move from London to LA is very different, as the population is growing from every location that he lives in, and how things like;
The film industry, Dr. Dre, GTA… I played this game so much on the PlayStation that I had the impression that I knew all the landmarks of the city without having been here,

Impact how he viewed the world and the new location that he would be living in, as it set a precedent for what to expect once he moved there.
This Isn’t the First Time Map Memory Has Been valuable, and It Won’t Be the Last
As games begin to get more advanced and development companies use realistic locations to inspire their games to bring a sense of familiarity into the worlds we are inhabiting, it will only be a matter of time before map memory becomes even more common, as gamers will know thousands of locations around the world like they know their own neighborhoods.
Games franchises like GTA aren’t the only ones that are doing this, as franchises like Watch Dogs, Hitman, and so many more are beginning to use real-life inspiration to bring a realistic feel to the games we play.
What do you think about Hugo Lloris using GTA as a map for LA? Have you experienced similar opportunities for map memory? Let us know in the comments what you think!
