After months of being absent from the public spotlight, the internet was sent into a frenzy following rumors surrounding Kate Middleton’s whereabouts. The seemingly doctored photo of the princess, along with her three kids, didn’t help ameliorate the situation and only added to the speculations. But finally, on March 22, in a video released by the Kensington Palace, the rumors were finally put to rest, as Middleton revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer.
But it seems Middleton is apparently worried about the Duke of Sussex’s upcoming visit in May, who is expected to meet The Prince and Princess of Wales.
Prince William and Kate Middleton Are Said to Be Concerned Ahead of Prince Henry’s UK Visit
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been estranged from Prince William and Middleton since the Sussexes moved to California with their two kids back in 2020. While he did return to the UK to support King Charles amidst his cancer diagnosis, hopes of reconciliation with Prince William and Middleton were dashed following his reported 45-minute return to California
However, rumors swirled that Prince Harry might finally visit the Waleses in May after it was revealed that the Sussexes privately reached out to them following Middleton’s announcement. But per Royal author Tom Quinn, Kate Middleton, and Prince William are “really nervous” about whether the Prince of Sussex will be joined by Markle. Furthermore, Mr. Quinn reported that the duo has been putting in a lot of effort in order to reduce the inevitable awkwardness and embarrassment.
He told The Mirror:
“William and Kate are really nervous that whether Harry comes alone or with Meghan there are going to be difficulties and a great deal of planning is going on to try to reduce all the inevitable awkwardness and embarrassment – one plan being looked is to let the brothers appear in public for a short period to try to show they can at least be civil to each other.”
But it can’t be said for certain if Prince Harry will finally try to break the ice in May. And if he indeed decides to avoid them, per Quinn, it can have “more damaging speculation.”
Gary Goldsmith Commended Kate Middleton’s Explanation About Her Diagnosis
Following her cancer diagnosis after undergoing abdominal surgery earlier this year, Middleton revealed that she has been receiving preventative chemotherapy.
Breaking the silence on her niece’s diagnosis, her maternal uncle, Gary Goldsmith, stressed that the Princess of Wales handled the explanation “incredibly well.” He stated that he couldn’t imagine “anybody else who’s had to deal with something like that.”
Goldsmith said (via TIME):
“I don’t know anybody else who’s had to deal with something like that, deal with their children, and then have to offer explanations to the national and international media in such a public scenario.”
It’ll be interesting to see if the Sussexes and the Waleses finally decide to reconcile things in May or if the Duke of Sussex avoids them altogether.
