The spot’s vacancy has raised questions among enthusiasts regarding Marvel Studios’ selection of an actor to portray the Golden Guardian. In speculation of the next move, users on social media have once again thrown their weight behind Gosling’s name. But this isn’t, by all means, a recent occurrence. In fact, an outstanding fan art imagining the Barbie alum as the stated superhero emerged in 2022, a few months after the Jake Schreier-directed project was first announced.

While Gosling himself may have affirmed his desire to play Marvel’s Ghost Rider if ever given the chance to sign up for an MCU gig, fans have vastly different ideas for which roles would suit the Drive star. Characters such as Nova, Cyclops, Galactus, Molecule Man, and even the fan-favorite Doctor Doom have been thrown around as names with potential on-screen shoes Gosling could fill.

Recent rumors have fueled these dreams among fans, remaining to be seen whether media speculations and gossip fodder ever amount to a reality.

Regardless, many fans also believed Sentry to be a role that would suit the 43-year-old actor. With Steven Yeun’s exit from Jake Schreier’s movie, discussions surrounding this idea have resumed. Amid such conversations, attention must be re-directed to a digital artist on Instagram, going by the username @venomhology, whose sleek imagining of Ryan Gosling as Sentry in Thunderbolts reaped thousands of likes and support from the community.

Whether Gosling gets to be the one to sweep in and portray the character remains indiscernible. The likelihood may be uncertain, but that hasn’t stopped fans from dreaming. Even if it isn’t the anti-hero ensemble, there could be some other endeavor that finally sees Gosling’s heavily rumored MCU debut. Who knows. We can, however, conclude that Kevin Feige would be more than happy to welcome the star as a possible addition to the franchise.

“Hey man, if Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider… Gosling’s unbelievable. Ryan is amazing. I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU. He’s dressed up as Ken on Venice Beach and gets more press than giant movies coming out that weekend. It’s amazing.”
