Late last year, Gaming Industry Journalist Jason Schreier kept assuring fans that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) Remake was happening despite rumors stating the project was dead. With no official confirmation, the leaks weren’t convincing fans at all but a new ray of hope has again emerged via the CEO of Saber Interactive, Matthew Karch.

In a recent interview, one of the first questions posed to Karch was the status of the KOTOR Remake and Karch gave a crystal clear reply, confirming that the project is alive and kicking. The confirmation from Saber’s CEO himself should put a lot of Star Wars fans waiting for the remake to wait for it in peace.

It’s getting closer to almost three years since the first, official announcement was made that a KOTOR Remake was made, exciting fans globally. The original game was a classic and was easily considered one of the best Star Wars games to be made, so when a remake was announced, fans were naturally hyped but soon became highly annoyed by the delays.

After a point, the project was considered dead, despite insiders reiterating that the project was still under development. Putting the debate to rest about whether or not the remake is active, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed in an interview given to IGN that the remake project was alive and well.

Karch stated having heard all of the reports surrounding the remake project numerous times and hence confirmed that the project is under active development.

What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations.

Just like the teaser from 2021 that revealed nothing more than the title, Karch ensured he kept things as much under wraps as possible by not giving up any more details. This silence and lack of a proper update means fans remain skeptical for now.

Fans Remain Skeptical Even After Karch Confirmation

The lengthy delay and several recent canceled projects mean fans are skeptical for now.

While Karch’s confirmation can be considered brilliant news for fans who have been hoping for an official update, a majority of fans remain skeptical. This could be highly down to just how long it’s been since the initial announcement and even after almost three years, Karch could only confirm that the title is under development and not provide any major update.

Apart from the delay the remake has so far, the amount of canceled projects of late is another reason fans believe they should wait before getting excited again.

That’s not to say that fans were not excited, as some of the fans did feel a lot excited about the confirmation.

The developers have also been in the news recently about their split up with Embracer and taking away as many as 38 titles for which development was also underway along with the developers and over 3000 staff. Karch’s studio continues to own the rights for Warhammer 40,000 and the Knights of the Old Republic remake.
