Star Wars games aren’t found in galaxies far, far away anymore. Well, at least not since the recent Star Wars Jedi games have been making waves in the AAA gaming community. As a recent leak suggests, Saber Interactive has been working on a huge Star Wars game. A Redditor has noticed the LinkedIn page that has details regarding the project’s development.

At the time of writing, the link has been taken down, suggesting that the rumour is likely true. In the meantime, we can speculate some information about the upcoming game.

Is the New Star Wars Game a KOTOR Remake?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is 20 years old, well-deserving of a remaster.

Earlier last year, there was a conversation around the remake of a Knights of the Old Republic game being made by Aspyr Media at the time. However, the project was shifted to Saber Interactive instead. The owner, Embracer, had a thing or two to say about the project’s development:

One of the Group’s AAA projects has transitioned to another studio within the Group. This was done to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title. We are not expecting any material delays for the title based on this transition.

At the time, the game was three years into its development cycle. If the rumours are true, this year marks the fourth year of development for the game, which is usually when studios start marketing the game a little or start hinting at a potentially new IP they’ve been working on.

From the recent speculation, Redditors have been commenting about their excitement around the new game. And, if the rumours are true, KOTOR will be the ideal game to make fans happy.

If You’re a Gamer Who Loves Star Wars, You’re in Luck

Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaw
Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaw inspires different gameplay perspectives.

The recently announced Star Wars Outlaws launched itself into a hype train with gameplay that’s from an outlaw’s point of view instead of someone who necessarily controls the Force. And then, we’ve had two Star Wars Jedi games focusing on Cal Kestis’ journey as he grows and manoeuvres his life through the Force. In fact, the franchise’s success made way for a third game that’s in the works.

If the recent leaks are true, a KOTOR remaster would yet again give players the power fantasy to play through some of the darkest and grittiest tales told in the Star Wars narrative. The game’s setting revolves close to 4,000 years before the formation of the Galactic Empire, asking players to take the role of a Jedi venturing through the galaxy in order to defeat Malak.

The 20-year-old title is one of the most popular Star Wars games today and worthy of a remaster. Saber Interactive’s history with some great titles like Evil Dead: The Game and Space Marine 2 has given us good reason to keep faith in their development and handling of the IP.

What are your thoughts on the rumoured info about an upcoming Star Wars game by Saber Interactive? Do you think they’ve got what it takes to make (or remake) a classic? Let us know in the comments.
