Known for playing over-the-top satirical and comically provocative characters in his films, one would be skeptical of associating a star like Sacha Baron Cohen with the MCU. Of course, the cinematic juggernaut has ways and means to surprise their fandom, but bringing a star such as Cohen would be unheard of.

In a recent copyright filing for their upcoming TV series Ironheart featuring Dominique Thorne as the titular superhero, it was revealed that The Dictator star will also be a part of it. It wasn’t confirmed what role he would be playing in the show as his role was just listed as Mystery Man, obviously to hide his character’s identity.

Since it’s still unclear what his involvement in the series might be, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding it, and most of them point to a rumor from the past.

Even before Marvel Studios filed the copyright, it was rumored that Cohen may appear in the MCU as Mephisto, the equivalent of The Devil in Marvel Comics. And now, since it has been officially confirmed, the flames of these rumors have reignited with more intensity.

While it’s anyone’s guess what a mystical being would be doing in a show filled to the brim with technology, one has to remember this is the MCU, where everything is connected.

While he may be a lesser-known character in the MCU, pop-culture circles have always hailed him as one of the most dangerous villains that Marvel superheroes have faced. Appearing for more than 50 years in Marvel Comics, this supernatural being has been at the crux of the Marvel Universe for a very long time.

Responsible for the creation of Johnny Blaze into the infamous Ghost Rider, he has also butted heads with many other heroes and villains from the pages of the comics. While it was first assumed that he would make his MCU appearance in WandaVision considering the lore, it seems he will be surprising us in the future with Ironheart.
