Speaking of it, the Euphoria star also commented on other modern horror movies, and how the genre did not feel “cinematic” anymore.

“I feel like now there’s a lot of film that just … they are not cinematic. The characters aren’t strong and I don’t know what happened to storytelling. Where they felt like the horror genre, they don’t deserve films anymore.”

Fans were not impressed with Sweeney’s comments, especially because she was a part of the critical disaster Madame Web. One fan wrote “Says the person who was in Madame Web!”, while another expressed, “You literally starred in Madame Web. So your input on storytelling is questionable at best”.

One fan claimed that “We’re in the best era for horror since Screams came out”. However, a few also voiced out in support of Sweeney with users writing “I mean, she’s not wrong” and “Horror is a joke right now”.
