Helldivers 2 continues to impress both Arrowhead Gaming Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment with their ongoing success, players act as soldiers in a war with a ton of casualties and there was meant to be a feature that would honor fallen heroes by having their names on a memorial very much like the victims of the Blip in Avengers: Endgame.

Playable on both PC and PlayStation, players fell to the hands of the enemy and have seen brothers in arms die in combat, it would be a nice feature to see a memorial in the game to also build a strong community foundation.

Helldivers 2 Almost Featured An Avengers: Endgame Easter Egg

The climatic battle of the Earth from Avengers: Endgame did have the similar feel to the intense combat in Helldivers 2.

In the early parts of Avengers: Endgame, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man is seen strolling in San Francisco which was affected by the Blip five years ago, and was shocked to see his name among those of Thanos’ victims. A similar feature would have been a prudent feature in a game like Helldivers 2 where players could die and lose in battle, and for their sacrifices to be honored by fellow soldiers and avenge them in this chaotic war.

A user on X named LordSwift suggested that Helldivers 2 should feature an in-game memorial that will display the names of players who have died in their sessions, later, the CEO of Arrowhead Gaming Studios themselves responded that at one point it was meant to be a feature.

According to his post, a ledger containing the names of all Helldivers and how long they have lived was meant to be in the game but it unfortunately got scoped out. This feature could have boosted or even jumpstarted the online community as they share stats and acknowledge their fallen allies from other lobbies.

The reason for this feature to be omitted remains unclear, it could be for several reasons like coding a random generator that would consistently display the names and player IDs of other Helldivers or there is no room to put it in, or maybe the budget constraints. Regardless, hopefully, one day that feature could be implemented.

In Memoriam of Helldivers 2’s Endgame Callback

With the player count continuously rising, more and more Helldivers perish and deserves to be remembered.

Heroes like the Avengers have been enshrined within the Marvel Cinematic Universe especially those who fell like Iron Man, Black Widow, and the Vision, with thousands of people worshipping them. Helldivers are no different, in their world they are their champions against invading forces, and adding a memorial hall or screen could be a unique feature to unite the players.

It may be a small feature but could have made a significant impact by acknowledging the stats and hours each Helldiver died during the fight. Would you like to see a memorial feature or any way to honor fallen comrades in the game at the literal end of the game? Let us know in the comments section below.
