Gaming platform Spatial is quite well-known for supporting indie game development, but with its newly announced show Wolves Den, it looks to create an excellent trend in the industry. Inspired by Shark Tank, the contest aims to provide a stage to every video game developer, regardless of the platform for which they create the titles.
Developers can now follow a specific set of instructions and submit their final results to get a chance to be featured in the show, as their work will be presented to an amazing panel of judges, including rapper and actor Ice T.
Wolves Den Aspires to Promote and Support Indie Game Developers
Streaming on YouTube, Wolves Den is set to feature four judges, which include rapper and actor Ice-T, along with popular gaming personalities CliffyB, Barji, and Welyn, all of whom are already well-versed in the world of video games. Indie game development has always been Spatial’s main focus, so it makes sense for it to create a show that will promote and support indie game developers of all kinds.
This would not only help them financially in unleashing their full potential, but it would also give them a platform where their work would be showcased to potentially millions of people.
The chance to be featured in Wolves Den can be grabbed by creating a video game prototype using the Unity engine on Spatial’s platform and using its Creator Toolkit Unity SDK. Developers will have to follow a specific theme, as they will be given 12 days until March 22 to submit their demos here.
The next step is up to the itch.io community, which will vote and decide on the 25 best projects from the submitted entries, and the Spatial team will take over the decisions after that, leading to 8 semi-finalists who will get to present their gaming ideas to the judges during the show’s premiere episode.
The First Wolves Den Theme Is Called Survival Revival
Along with the game demo, developers are also required to submit a maximum 90-second video link of someone from their team describing the prototype and why it deserves to be featured in Wolves Den.
The theme that has to be followed is called Survival Revival, as the demo should combine the survival genre with any other preferred genre, and Spatial is encouraging devs to be as imaginative as possible.
Being a gamer at heart, judge Ice-T grew up playing survival games like Resident Evil, and since he holds a high regard for the people who have given him so much happiness, he wants “to find the next generation of undiscovered developers and help them bring their games to people all over the world.”
