Rebel Wilson has recently made a surprising revelation in an excerpt from her new mémoire, Rebel Rising. Explaining how she believes Adele doesn’t like her, Wilson claimed that perhaps the singer’s hatred towards her was because of the way people often confused them for one another back in the day when they had gained a bit of weight.
According to an excerpt obtained by US Weekly, the Pitch Perfect actress asserted that a few celebrities often took offense at the term “plus-size”. Assuming that perhaps that’s why even Adele hated her, Rebel Wilson noted how the singer would allegedly “always quickly” turn away when they crossed paths at events.

Getting refreshingly candid about her journey to Hollywood success, the Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson penned a hilarious and inspiring mémoire, which also included her weight loss journey. Released on April 2, Wilson’s book Rebel Rising created an uproar on social media. But what popped our eyes out was her comments about Adele ahead of her book launch.
Speaking with US Weekly in March 2024, and addressing a few excerpts from her then-upcoming mémoire, Rebel Wilson made a few remarks on how she assumes that Adele allegedly “hates” her. Although hate could be a strong word, Wilson is adamant that the singer’s behavior towards the actress allegedly reeked of hatred.
“Some actresses would get offended if I called them plus-size in this book, so I have to be careful with what I say. This is why, I think, Adele hates me.”
Recalling the time when Adele had noticeably gained weight, which led people to often confuse the singer with Rebel Wilson’s Pitch Perfect character Fat Amy, the actress noted that perhaps that’s the reason why Adele hated her. Although she quickly explained that her remarks were strictly based on assumptions, Wilson dropped a shocking revelation.
“There was a moment when she was bigger, and some people would confuse us for one another… I am assuming, because to be fair I’ve never asked her.”
After conceding her assumptions about the Easy On Me songstress, the 44-year-old actress went on to explain what gave her the idea that Adele allegedly hates her.
Rebel Wilson’s Shocking Comments Towards Adele
Explaining in detail why she believes that Adele isn’t quite fond of Rebel Wilson, the actress mentioned how she has often been avoided by the singer at several events. Speaking with the outlet, Wilson claimed that despite coming face-to-face at events and programs, the singer would “always quickly” turn away whenever she saw the actress approaching.
“She would always quickly turn away as if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than thirty seconds. That she didn’t like being compared to ‘Fat Amy,’”.
Making wild claims about the Rolling in the Deep singer, the Bridesmaids alum went on to discuss her weight loss journey. In fact, both Wilson and Adele have gone through a rigorous journey of losing significant weight in recent years. The singer previously admitted shedding 100 pounds in 2021, as per the New York Post, while Wilson stated losing more than 80 pounds in 2020.
Although Rebel Wilson started her Hollywood career by playing “the fat funny girl, making self-deprecating jokes”, she eventually got serious about the issue and decided to take her health seriously.
