Britney Spears is in Financial Trouble, Despite The Success Of Her Memoir

Since Britney Spears is no longer under her father’s strict conservatorship, she has more control over her finances, but an insider has said that this has led to her going on far too many extravagant shopping binges.

The Criminal hitmaker was cautioned a few months ago about overspending, but it appears that she disregarded the advice and is now deeply in debt, according to the reports (via Ok Magazine). The insider revealed:

“Britney was warned a few months ago that she was running into the red, but she didn’t change anything and kept on blowing her cash and now it’s happened. She’s got a mountain of debts and no money coming in.”

According to the outlet, Princess of Pop makes the most of her money from past endeavors, such as her 2018 tour. After releasing a few songs in the previous two years, she faced hardships until the publication of her new book, The Woman in Me, a few months ago.

Despite the book’s success and placement on the Best Seller list, the insider disclosed that Spears had already spent the $12 million she received in advance. She will not be able to pay off her debt with the money she makes from the book either:

“It’s not all Britney’s fault given all the people who’ve leeched off her and continue to do so. But the problem is she doesn’t know how things add up. She was never formally educated about money and how it works, and now she’s paying a terrible emotional and financial price!”

While the specifics of her debts are unknown, we hope that her strength and determination will see her through this difficult period.

Britney Spears’ The Woman in Me: The Most Surprising Bombshells

The Woman in Me, Britney Spears’ recently published book, came out on October 24 and explored her dark past. The singer’s autobiography actually detailed everything from her ascent to fame to her previous relationships and the conservatorship experience.

Well, Spears discussed some of her worst moments from the past as well as how she has always felt like a target of intense scrutiny. She spoke out about the impact of the highly controversial conservatorship that was placed on her following her mental health issues in 2008. The conservatorship gave her father and a lawyer authority over Spears’ personal and financial matters. She wrote in the memoir:

“This is what’s hard to explain, how quickly I could vacillate between being a little girl and being a teenager and being a woman, because of the way they had robbed me of my freedom. The woman in me was pushed down for a long time.”

The audio version of The Woman in Me is narrated by Michelle Williams, who also recorded the audiobook’s introduction. Spears said in a statement made available to PEOPLE:

“This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it. Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook.”
