Seth Rollins is renowned for his mic skills as well as prowess inside the squared circle. Therefore, he stands as one of the premier superstars of the 21st century. The World Heavyweight Champion has delivered remarkable performances, often contributing to compelling storylines.
The Visionary has a lot of respect for his peers in professional wrestling, but some more than others. In fact, he took a shot at Ronda Rousey after she struggled in WWE due to her UFC background. The Monday Night RAW Superstar has been on top of the world after winning the World Heavyweight Championship at the Night of Champions Premium Live Event last year in Saudi Arabia
Seth Rollins Took Aim At Ronda Rousey Struggling In WWE
Despite now being under TKO Group Holdings, UFC and WWE, while sharing the same corporate umbrella, maintain significant differences. While speaking to Merc Raimondi of ESPN, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins highlighted the distinction, particularly in terms of the demanding schedule required for professional wrestling.
While acknowledging the skill of UFC fighters, Rollins expressed doubt that they could seamlessly transition to the squared circle due to the rigorous commitments of WWE.
As an example, Seth Rollins mentioned former UFC champion Ronda Rousey, who transitioned to WWE after her fighting career. However, he noted that Rousey didn’t work a full-time schedule with televised events, premium cards like WrestleMania, and weekly “house shows.”
I don’t want to knock Ronda Rousey and I love Ronda, she did a lot for our industry and fight industry in general, but it was tough for Ronda. She tried her damndest and it was hard for her. I’d love for someone to come over and take a crack if you think you can hang, it’s hard.”
Seth Rollins expressed admiration for Ronda Rousey’s contributions to the industry but emphasized the difficulty of the demanding WWE schedule.
Seth Rollins Also Thinks He Would Do Better In The UFC Than CM Punk
Unlike many professional sports, UFC fighters don’t have an offseason and typically train year-round. However, they usually step into the octagon only two to three times a year. In the same interview, Rollins acknowledges the challenges of MMA but argues it’s a different challenge to endure the physical toll that WWE demands with a full-time schedule.
“They don’t have the stamina for it,” Rollins said. “They don’t fight every single weekend. This championship goes everywhere… and especially the top stars over there, they’re catered to a certain way, and that’s great. That’s their style. That’s what works for them. You fight maybe once, twice a year. You’re crazy, you’re fighting three times a year.”
Seth Rollins was asked if he would challenge anyone in the UFC, acknowledging that he might not win but expressing confidence that he could perform better than CM Punk did in the Octagon.
I’d call them all out,” he said. “I don’t care. I can’t do what they do. I’d probably get knocked out and choked in two seconds. Still, I might do better than [CM] Punk, but I would likely lose. They can’t come and do what we do either. Same umbrella, but two totally different worlds.”
CM Punk retired from MMA in 2018 after losing his second fight and has not competed in the Octagon since. Nonetheless, Seth Rollins will forever have beef with The Second City Saint and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
