TMZ recently reported that Taylor Swift’s legal team had issued a cease and desist letter to Jack Sweeney, a University of Central Florida student who tracked celebrity jets online, including Taylor Swift’s. Sweeney, who used publicly available FAA data and other sources, had a dedicated page for tracking Swift’s private jet.
After receiving the letter, Sweeney shut down the @taylorswiftjets account. Swift’s attorneys warned Sweeney about potential legal consequences, citing concerns about stalking and harassment, which they argued jeopardized Swift’s safety and well-being.
The letter emphasized the serious nature of the issue, stating, “While this may be a game to you… it is a life-or-death matter for our Client.” Swift’s legal team contends that there is no legitimate interest or public need for the information, accusing Sweeney of stalking and harassment.
In response, Sweeney asserted that he was not violating any laws, merely sharing publicly available data. Despite attempting to create similar tracking pages on social media, he has been banned for privacy rule violations.
