The fact that the sequel trilogy in the Star Wars franchise was lackluster in comparison to what The Mandalorian managed to achieve with its three seasons says a lot about just how exceptional the show was in the eyes of the fans. In fact, a lot of them might say that it single-handedly carried the franchise when there were no major cinematic projects lined up for Lucasfilm.
Naturally, the show created such a reputation that it was undeniable for the studio to just limit them to the silver screen, which has led to the development of The Mandalorian and Grogu, the next chapter in the story of Din Djarin which will be adapted into a major film. The only problem many have with this news is the involvement of Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, which has led to the fandom being divided on her being on the project as the producer.
The Mandalorian And Grogu Will Have Kathleen Kennedy And Dave Filoni On the Production Team
After the last trilogy of the main Star Wars timeline, fans were left divided on the performance and reception of those films, specifically because they lacked much more than what they had to offer. Thus, half a decade went by without any major motion pictures being announced from Lucasfilm, and the only thing that was popping off from their offerings was Pedro Pascal in and as The Mandalorian.

And with other silver screen offerings from Lucasfilm becoming the choice of fans to stick to, it’s no wonder that the next chapter in Din Djarin and Grogu’s story is going to be adapted into a feature film. The studio recently announced that its next big screen feature is going to be titled The Mandalorian and Grogu, which will feature the titular characters as the main focus of the narrative.

Directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian & Grogu will go into production later this year.

The production is said to begin in mid or late 2024 with series director Jon Favreau helming the project, while franchise producer and Ahsoka director Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy will be in the producer’s chair. While the news about Favreau and Filoni fills fans with hope for the film, Kennedy’s involvement has the fans divided over the upcoming film’s fate.

Fans Come To Kennedy’s Defence
This is not the first time that Kennedy has come under fire from the fans, as in the past, she has been criticized by them for ruining the latest trilogy in the main timeline due to the selection of the directors for the films along with flooding many projects with woke ideals in the past, not to mention, her treatment of the fandom.

She produces the show too and is the only reason it came to fruition.

You know the mandalorian wouldn’t have happened if she wasn’t the producer right?
