Singing-to-acting transitions among the world’s biggest pop stars have not always been welcomed with open arms. Some receive harsh criticism for merely making that jump. But Eilish’s contributions as a guest star to the comedy-horror miniseries offered a peek at the singer’s capabilities and the extent of her career expansion. She might’ve appeared for a single episode, but what many consider a stunt casting paid off in her favor.
Thanks to her Swarm performance, the celebrity is now nominated for a 2024 Indie Spirit Award for Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series.
Billie Eilish’s First Acting Nomination For Her Role In Swarm
Many viewers have found it fascinating to see Eilish’s growth over the years. The talent has been expressing her artistry in music since she was a young teenager, only about 13-14. Together with her brother Finneas O’Connell, she was dedicated to releasing songs that would eventually draw listeners. Her debut album (When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?) skyrocketed her fame even further, and the performer was able to attract a larger audience.
She then made history on January 26, 2020, at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. At the ceremony, Billie Eilish became the youngest Grammy winner in the four main categories—Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year.

Many have been impressed by Eilish’s nuanced, creepy, and authentic portrayal of Eva, the head of a women’s empowerment cult in the psychological horror premise. If the Grammy-winning performer could dazzle viewers with her acting in just one miniseries episode, we can only imagine what she could achieve with more screen time and scope.
Swarm (2023) is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
