Marvel‘s reign is one that has spread across all corners of this world for more than a decade and a half. Over the course of history, empires have risen and fallen in the span of centuries and sometimes days. Although the foundations of this empire were set gradually, it gained recognition overnight. And as the past shows, some of the grandest empires have the most painful downfalls.
For Marvel, it started with the beginning of the fourth phase. Though audiences try and hold on to any form of hope that they can find, it seems like their grips are staggering. Disappointments after disappointments have been haunting this franchise for the past few years, with The Marvels being only a recent addition to this party. Recent updates make it all the worse as fans are nervous about the one film series they could always count on, The Avengers. Could the fifth part of this be in danger after respected director, Destin Daniel Cretton backs out?

Marvel’s Staggering Empire Suffers Another Blow
Avengers 5, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, has been speculated to be one of the most important films to come out of this recent phase. All the projects up until this point ever since we said our goodbyes to Tony Stark, have been leading up to this film.
With how much responsibility and weight this film has to carry, it is certainly not a good sign that the director who was initially planning to work on this project, Destin Daniel Cretton, has walked away from the film. Cretton worked on Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Rings, one of the few projects from the fourth phase that played the role of its saving grace.
After the success and positive reception that this movie received, he was brought on for the second part of this movie. Along with this, he was also brought on to two other Marvel projects, Wonder Man, a series where he features as co-creator, as well as director for Avengers 5.

There May Still Be Hope
This news raises concerns on many different levels, with the first being, what will happen to Shang-Chi 2 and Wonder Man. Those at Marvel revealed that Destin Daniel Cretton’s departure from Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, was on good terms and he will go on to work on the other projects the same, only walking away from working with the Avengers, which has pushed its release date to the first of May 2026.
Considering how much time there is to the release of this movie, which was delayed because of the Writers’ Strike and Actors’ Strike, there is a lot of time for them to find a new director who is up for this job. This is also enough time for Marvel to figure out all of the behind-the-scenes issues that are coming to light that are putting their audiences and fans at unease.
