Saturday Night Live has been plagued by decreased viewership and other setbacks for a couple of years now. But the surprise appearance of Rachel McAdams, Megan Thee Stallion, and Renee Rapp along with Jacob Elordi hosting his first SNL segment ever was enough to astound fans.
While fans are still reeling about the appearance of the original Regina George, McAdams gave another reason for the fans to cheer up as she, along with Rapp and Stallion, re-created the iconic Spider-Man meme.

Everyone knows the famous Spider-Men meme featuring two, or in some instances three web slingers dressed alike, pointing at each other. The meme became even more famous when the three iconic Spider-Man from Sony and MCU were featured in a similar moment in the film, No Way Home (via Fatherly.com).
Ever since its first use in 2011, the meme, or rather act has been incorporated into pop culture, becoming a staple of netizens and memers (via Know Your Meme). And back on Saturday during the first episode of this year’s Saturday Night Live, Rachel McAdams too jumped on the trend.
Making a surprise appearance and introducing the musical guest Renee Rapp, McAdams’s appearance took netizens by shock. Having starred as the bully Regina George in the original 2004’s Mean Girls, McAdams introducing Rapp, the Broadway’s and new Mean Girls’ George, was a full circle moment for a lot of fans. Many even claimed that the baton for Regina George had officially been passed.
After Rapp had performed Not My Fault, a song she collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion for the new Mean Girls musical’s soundtrack, the three stood together pointing at each other, re-creating the iconic meme. Their epic gesture give Marvel fans as well as the Mean Girls fans an amazing opportunity to rejoice.
As the photos of them went viral (via X) fans have again started campaigning for the old Means Girl to reunite (via X), especially since Lindsay Lohan already made a cameo in the new film and also attended the red carpet premiere.
Why Rachel McAdams Was Not Part Of The New Mean Girls
The new musical adaptation of Mean Girls has been gaining widespread praise from fans and critics. However, one thing that really caught the eyes of fans was the presence of a surprise cameo from Lindsay Lohan and the absence of the likes of Rachel McAdams.
While talking to Variety a while back, McAdams revealed how her cameo appearance didn’t work out despite her wish to be in the movie.
“Tina [Fey] and I sort of dabbled with a few ideas, but it was tough to make it all work in the end. I was really down for whatever she wanted to do.”
Although her cameo in the movie didn’t work out, she also received a lot of flak from fans for not being part of a Walmart Commercial despite it starring Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert. Explaining that she never knew everyone was doing it, McAdams maintained that she would always love to be part of a Mean Girls reunion.
After the commercial, McAdams and Lohan’s willingness to return, maybe we might get a Mean Girls 2. Meanwhile, the original Mean Girls can be streamed on Paramount+, while the new one is in theatres now.
