Iron Giant

The Iron Giant is a mythological robot that launched an attack on Mary Geoise about 200 years ago. It was created approximately 900 years ago, during the Void Century. It was rendered dormant owing to a lack of energy and is now stored on Egghead. If he joins Luffy in the battle against the Five Elders, he is going to be a big help.

It has been revealed in the manga that the Iron Giant became active because of the Drums of Liberation from Gear 5. However, one question that has been irritating the fans about the Iron Giant is how the Iron Giant woke up 200 years ago to attack Mary Geoise if Joyboy and the Nika Fruit had not been awakened for almost 900 years.

The Mystery About Iron Giant Attacking Mary Geoise

According to the One Piece manga, the Iron Giant had been dormant in Egghead for nearly 200 years, and the Drums of Liberation from Monkey D. Luffy activating his Gear 5 form brought the Iron Giant back to life. If we are to believe that the robot is powered by the Drums of Liberation, someone must have awakened the Nika fruit 200 years ago.

Which, to be honest, makes little sense because no significant characters from that era have been introduced in the plot. Furthermore, fans are aware that Gorosei believed the Nika fruit had not awakened in 900 years, so does this imply that there is another power source for ancient technology?

Thus there is no proficient answer to how the Iron Giant woke up 200 years ago, attacked Mary Geoise, ran from there to Egghead, and finally lost his energy and went back to sleep for almost 200 years until Luffy came to the island and woke him up again.

One Piece Theory Reveals How The Iron Giant Woke Up 200 Years Ago

Although the mystery about the Iron Giant has been recently questioned, there have been some theories about it from One Piece fans. One such theory stated that someone secretly tried to become Nika and failed. Although this theory feels promising, there is not much evidence to support the theory.

Another theory that now makes the most sense was introduced by @Ohara on YouTube and involves Amatsuki Toki, the only other person from the Void Century who eventually married Kozuki Oden. Since Toki consumed the time devil fruit, which enabled her to travel through time. She could project herself or others into the future for years if not decades. But she can’t go back in time.

It’s possible that she jumped from the Void Century to a period roughly 200 years ago, where she took some kind of action to awaken the Iron Giant, and then she jumped into Oden’s time. As she was from the void century, there is a chance that she knew something about the Iron Giant and tried to awaken him.
