Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 is gaining popularity in the player community as it allows them to join hands with others to go on interstellar missions. Players team up with their friends and also with strangers to fight alien bugs and robots and save democracy.
Helldivers 2 is a co-op game and similar to other games in the genre, players can customize their builds and loadouts according to their choice and preferences. The customization for these builds has become a hot topic in the game’s community. Seasoned players of this game, and its prequel, constantly argue over the most effective weapon and strategy combinations to use.
Helldivers 2 players come up with a solution to deal with meta-kickers
As many players often argue about the most effective weapon and strategy combinations to use, a new problem has emerged in the game’s community. The problem stems from the fact that as the difficulty level of the game increases, players need to use different meta weapons to fight the aliens as they get stronger with each increasing level.
Therefore, while playing on the hardest difficulty levels, some players tend to kick out other players from the lobbies. As such, the community started asking the developers to come up with a fix and interestingly, the developers turned to the players to try and come up with a solution for the kicking-out issue.
Therefore, with this, Helldivers 2 players started taking matters into their own hands and came up with a unique solution to deal with the meta-kickers. Surprisingly, the solution was to take away a player’s Super Samples if they were found to be kicking others out for not using meta loadouts.
However, according to some players, even though this solution will solve the problem, it does give rise to a different problem. Instagram user @franhs_224 shared their thoughts on the social media platform.
The user stated,
“Sounds like an interesting solution. But how will the game distinguish between people who are kicking others for not running “meta load outs” vs people who are kicking someone who is being toxic, team killing on purpose, etc. I do think this has potential, but players should still be able to kick toxic players without being punished”
According to the user, players who follow this method will go on to add a new set of problems. The main issue many players will face is identifying the meta-kickers. Once a player is kicked out by someone in the lobby, it will become difficult for others to determine whether the player was kicked out for not using meta loadouts or was kicked out for getting toxic in the game.
This might therefore lead to a fear among players who might eventually stop kicking out players who get toxic due to the fear of misunderstanding and losing their sample supplies.
Helldivers 2 has become one of the best games by Sony
The month of February for the video game industry as a whole appeared to be good based on the full North American sales data released by Circana. The month saw $4.7 billion being spent by players on games and other content.
However, the main highlight of the data was Helldivers 2 which was released by Sony. The game riding on the back of its popularity gained unexpected success and emerged as February’s top game. Moreover, the game also managed to become Sony’s 7th-best game in terms of the launch month sales.
Moreover, PCs accounted for 60% and the PS5 contributed to the other 40% of sales. Helldivers 2 became the top game of February after it managed to climb up and take the spot from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth which is now in the second spot.
