The prequel and sequel trilogies maintained the original designs for stormtroopers and clone troopers, choosing not to overhaul the iconic look. This influence extends beyond the film realm because even Jonathan “Jony” Ive, Chief Design Officer at Apple, drew inspiration from stormtroopers in his design work.

While speaking to The Wall Street Journal in 2017, Jonathan “Jony” Ive revealed that he drew inspiration from the look of the original stormtroopers when designing Apple’s AirPods.


”Ive revealed that he “had the look of the original stormtroopers in mind” when he designed Apple’s AirPods.”

The sleek white shell of these wireless earbuds and their square casing, which were first released back in 2016, bears a resemblance to the iconic stormtrooper costumes. Obviously, this turned out to be a major deal in the end.

According to Headphonesaddict, Apple has made $14.5 billion of revenue in 2022 just from AirPods sales. It was further added that over 150 million units of AirPods have been sold so far. The report also added that the revenue generated from the AirPods increased each and every year. In 2017, it brought in a revenue of $1.76 billion, $3.2 billion in 2018, $6.1 billion in 2019, $10.1 billion in 2020 and $12.1 billion in 2020. It is also estimated Apple sold around 58 million units of AirPods in 2021.
