After Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s successful launch on multiple platforms, EA and Respawn have been keeping track of all the shenanigans players have been entertaining themselves with, and this includes going against the not-so-mighty Rick the Door Technician.
According to the stats, over 3000 players have fallen to the terror of Rick. Is he that good? Well, that’s up to you. If you’re feeling cozy and up for a laugh, give the guy a chance. We know that 3000 players already have.
Rick the Door Technician Is One of the Shortest Boss Fights You’ll Encounter
So, who is Rick exactly? As the name suggests, Rick the Door Technician welcomes you with an energetic battle cry when you face him. However, unlike other stormtroppers in the game, Rick gets to have his own boss health bar. Let’s just say Respawn wanted to goof around with us. His confidence and charm in going against Cal are worth having a laugh over.
Players come across Rick on the planet Koboh, in a corridor where Rick is, as his title suggests, the door technician. He quickly equips an electro baton and starts charging at Cal. The dialogue is adorable, where we learn that Rick is an enthusiastic individual who wants to climb the ranks. Unfortunately, his skills don’t match his words.
The poor guy doesn’t last two hits from Cal, and if you choose to triumph over him, do so in your own right. But if you want to give him a chance and let him have his victory, here’s what he says:
I’m looking to get promoted. I’ll get a commendation for this!
It’s beyond hilarious how Respawn chose to put a ‘joke’ boss fight in the game. Compared to the otherwise serious and gritty tone of the game, this is a sweet break and deserves the praise it’s been getting on the internet.
There are quite a few bosses in the game that will make players question their combat choices, but Rick the Door Technician is a pleasant (and funny) surprise in the midst of all of it.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Sees a Lot of New Players Trying Out the Soulslike Genre
EA further shared some interesting stats with fans. This includes ‘white’ being the most popular lightsaber color chosen by players and Jedi Knight as the most selected difficulty. The game has been claimed to be much more flexible in terms of difficulty compared to its competitor Soulslike games.
This is possibly due to Respawn’s major focus on story-driven gameplay, which is open to new players trying out a challenging combat system without feeling too punished by it.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds on the strong foundation of its predecessor but cleverly adds new mechanics, cosmetics, and characters to the game. In fact, there are five distinct ‘stances’ and lightsaber variants that let players customize their playstyle and find new ways of resolving conflicts. Moreover, the game is a semi-open-world experience that has Cal exploring vibrant worlds across different planets.
While the game has faced many issues regarding its optimization, a lot of patches and updates have somewhat ‘fixed‘ the game. Still, there’s much more to be done, and fans are eagerly waiting for more content too.
More open-ended gameplay and improved combat certainly add to the game’s other strong points, such as its gripping narrative. In the first game, Cal explored his place in the universe and learned ways to be a better Jedi. In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, he learns more about relationships and explores his understanding of good and evil.
So far, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has sold over 100 million copies, and Cal Kestis’ voice actor, Cameron Monaghan, stated that a third game is in development. This was during the Ocala Comic-Con panel.
