Starfield has been praised by gamers and critics alike as Bethesda’s masterpiece has garnered an average of close to 9/10 ratings from most major gaming reviewers. The space adventure’s nearly zero bugs have also surprised fans who have experienced game-crashing bugs and glitches from Bethesda’s previous titles. Starfield has a lot to offer and gamers are making the most of what’s available, as they have been busy customizing their characters to resemble celebrities and their spaceships to replicate those from popular sci-fi movies.

As much as the gamers are enjoying a perfect performance from the game, Starfield still has some weird NPC glitches that have resulted in unusual outcomes. From NPCs that run into a wall to the ones not reacting to a bullet shot next to them, gamers have been sharing some humorous glitches, but none of those have been crashing the game, fortunately. Now, gamers have noticed something quite creepy with the NPCs, which might make them look as terrifying as a horror game character.

Starfield Requires An SSD, As Traditional HDDs Can Freeze The Game

Starfield is a new-gen game that has a serious recommended system requirements list, and it’s not a surprise to gamers either. The massive masterpiece from Bethesda still used the studio’s decade-old Creation Engine, but that still resulted in the game producing some visually stunning details. To experience the game in all its glory with unlocked fps and in stunning 4K, a proper high-end desktop is the best option to choose as the game is locked at 30fps on Xbox Series consoles.

One important aspect in the system requirements list for Starfield is that the game requires it to be installed and booted from an SSD (Solid State Drive) and not the traditional HDD (Hard Disk Drive). The reason behind this is plain simple, just as with any modern game, an SSD can boot the game quicker, render the elements smoothly, and give gamers the best possible performance without any stuttering or freezing of the game. While gamers have already tried to install the game on an HDD, the results have been quite bad with the game lagging and freezing heavily.

This might be the best time for gamers to upgrade to SSDs as well, with a plethora of major titles releasing over the remainder of the year.

Starfield NPCs Have Weird Smiles, Resulting In Them Looking Creepy

While the game’s engine has done a good job rendering and generating details perfectly, one small detail in the game has led to Starfield‘s NPCs possessing weird smiles and looking terrifying. As expected, this has resulted in the fake smiles being used as a meme. A freelance game developer who has worked on Dragon Age and God of War among others, Delaney King, has come up with what she felt could be the reason behind the NPCs’ fake smiles.

As King points out, the fake-looking smile could be down to the orbicularis oculi muscle. The said muscle helps in closing the eyelids a bit and squeezing out tears from the eyes, and when this doesn’t happen when a person smiles, the smile looks fake. More precisely, if the eyes are stationary and the lips are smiling, the pearly white smile can look quite sinister and fake.

King’s thread of posts on her social networking account is quite detailed as she speaks of a variety of other reasons as well.

Starfield Devs may have had their own reasons to skip going the extra mile to work on perfect smiles by the NPCs. However, now that it’s being discussed and shared a lot, maybe a future patch might just fix it.

Starfield Gamer Spawns Insane Amount Of Random Objects, Game Renders Each Object Perfectly

Starfield‘s physics is being lauded as YouTuber Dennios attempted to spawn an insane number of random objects in the game, resulting in every single object still being rendered and detailed perfectly. Dennios spawned around 10,000 milk cartons, dropping them from a skyscraper and a closet full of toilet paper rolls, having them fall all over the floor before spreading them across a hall. To everyone’s delight, the game rendered the objects perfectly well, resulting in gamers praising the game’s almost decade-old engine.

Starfield has so far impressed gamers and critics alike, and any minor glitch or bug will probably be fixed in the coming days. Even before release, the game had gone through many versions of bug fixes, that actually resulted in gamers missing all the infamous bugs usually found in a Bethesda game.
