Bethesda’s highly anticipated game, Starfield, is finally coming out next month after being in development for years. Among the many highly advanced mechanics and the game’s impeccable open world that the gamers are waiting to experience, Bethesda has given us yet another reason to be excited. Space nerds will be surprised to know about one of the planets that’s included in the game, waiting to be explored.

This ‘planet’ was quite recently taken off the list of planets in our solar system, around 17 years back. So, to have it being listed as a planet yet again is now bringing mixed reactions, but overall excitement, nonetheless.

How Starfield’s Portrayal of Pluto Could Spark Interest in Space Exploration

The International Astronomy Union General Assembly ruffled quite a lot of feathers when they convened to finalize a controversial decision to no longer classify Pluto as a planet. Space enthusiasts are yet to get over the fact with many still counting the lonely, most distant piece of rock as being a part of planets in our Solar System. Bethesda look to garner their support with their recent decision in their upcoming masterpiece, Starfield.

Many eagle-eyed gamers who have been following the developments and all the released content so far, with the teasers and trailers have now spotted the dwarf planet in the Starfield universe. Pluto is clearly labelled on a map of our solar system in Starfield.

The planet is, of course, labelled a dwarf planet in the screengrab shared above. However, just being listed as part of the universe and most probably, as being a planet that gamers could actually visit has sparked quite a lot of interest and intrigue. A lot of gamers who visited Moon in Mass Effect 1 were quite thrilled with the idea of the possibility of exploring our native satellite.

For the same reason, gamers are both thrilled and waiting to explore all the planets in our Solar System as made possible in the game, plus all the exoplanets and beyond. A leaked list of achievements from Starfield lists an achievement completion after gamers visit 100 planets. As tiring as the list of achievements may sound to gamers, it might just make it quite worthwhile, exploring the vast universe in one of the biggest games coming out this year.

It’s not just Pluto that’s caught everyone’s attention, as Bethesda had made claims that there would be a total 1,000 planets for gamers to explore in the game. However, only around 10% of those planets will actually be habitable. There might still be a whole lot to explore within each of the planets’ diverse locations. Finally, there might also be a whole lot of space stations, and moons as well to be explored.

While gamers cannot wait to start their celestial journey across the different realms, there are also news about the game’s requirements. Starfield is touted as one of the biggest games to be coming out this year, and with the massive interstellar journey to be explored by gamers, the game is just as big when it comes to required space and specs. Bethesda’s masterpiece will require upwards of 126 GB for the Premium Edition and just a shade over 100 GB for the Standard Edition.

PC gamers will need to clear out even more space for Starfield as the game requires almost 140 GB to be downloaded. Do note that there might be launch day patches and updates as well, which might lead to more disk space requirements on both consoles and PC. Starfield will have a global release slated for September 6th, later this year.
